What if Michael Spinks juiced like Holyfield?

Would that have given him the edge he needed to hang in the modern day heavyweight division?

If his chin held up then maybe. But I don’t think Michael Spinks wanted a long career. He could have continued on after Tyson as he was only 32 years old but it just wasn’t in the cards for him

I don't think he had what it took to hit the gym like Holyfield did, he would not have reaped the same physical results

His knees were bad. By time he got to heavyweight he only had so much left anyway.
If he was healthy and he juiced, yes he would have been a good and competitive heavyweight.

I read somewhere that he was, although I can't remember the details.

I wouldn’t be positive that he didn’t juice either.

Spinx had a fairly lean frame as a full grown adult in his 30's even after he bulked up with weights to compete at HW. I doubt he could get much bigger while still being functional and athletic. He didn't seem to have the build to get as bulky as Holyfield, nor to get that strong. I recall on a few occasions Holmes roughing Spinx up and pulling him around like he was nothing in an attempt to intimidate him.

Spinks injured his knee in 1979 and it was never fully the same. He used a training brace and changed up his sparring but it didn't get better as he got older.

When he finally faced Tyson he was wearing a brace during the fight.

Spinks was 32 in the body of a 55 year old.

I believe he was wearing two of them if I recall. Still I think he could have beaten some guys out there but it just didn’t make sense for him anymore

Not saying he was but you can be on juice and not look like a bodybuilder. Anyways he beat old Holmes who was still a very good heavyweight, so yes Mike could be a good heavyweight with/without steroids.

PEDs didn't benefit Holyfield nearly as much as all the title shots he was gifted. If Spinks doesn't get that treatment PEDs aren't going to help him.

Because an accusation of that seriousness requires serious evidence, not "I read somewhere but can't remember where or any of the details"
