What if Michael Spinks juiced like Holyfield?

Guy, its not an "accusation." He isn't going to court. I have no idea if it is true or not. But somewhere along the lines I read that is how he gained the weight. I just turned 50. It's not possible for me to remember the source of everything I have ever read. It doesn't mean that I am not going to throw it out there.

    Good luck to you.

I don't want to come across as a twat mate, but personally I don't think you should be even floating those kind of accusations about a professional prizefighter unless you have actual sources you can cite. Maybe I am sensitive to it because he's one of my favourite fighters, but I just don't find it credible.

    Good luck to you also.

Nice response and great avatar. His appearance over Xmas nearly got lost amid the love for Gavin and Stacey but it was truly brilliant. Wallace and Gromit's best opponent.

Spinks was 31 when he fought Tyson.

Regardless, he sure didn't look like he was in the body of a 54-year-old at 30 when he faced Cooney.

He did juice like Holyfield and they shared a trainer for the purpose of bulking up, Shilstone spoke a lot of mumbo jumbo about being scientific but really he was a drug dealer with a weird program (from what I’ve read) that would probably do nothing, these were established athletes with a huge base of fitness already what they needed if they wanted to go up in weight wasn’t some curl and dumbbell press program? lol the weight section of his program was garbage. It was to continue doing what they already did, take the PED’s and get a bodybuilding coach (like Holyfield did) on the side. Spinks and Holyfield already had the boxing covered they just needed size, no magic for somehow staying “loose” while bigger that the great Shilstone only knew, no, you keep doing what you do just get bigger and your body will adapt like it has for 1000s of years, folks have a hard cap on movement with size I believe that (bulk Arguello up to 175lbs and watch him move) but Spinks and Holyfield had a frame for it… back to the question, Spinks would do well at cruiser weight and should be very selective at HW Holmes when he fought him was still a very formidable fighter but not overly physical and overpowering the way say… Bakole, Zhang, Kaba or Fury would be, even Chisora might be a banana peel those guys are all like 260lbs+ dinosaurs - I can see him outboxing Joshua and Usyk?

Huh? find a picture of Holyfield in his physical prime at 28 years old weighing 195 pounds, then look at him later at 220+

He’d’ve potentially have been better than Holyfield, he’d’ve been able to mix it with the much bigger men more than he could in terms of strength, he also would’ve hit even harder, he was a good puncher at Heavyweight regardless, but it would’ve been devastating had he juiced up, along with the ATG skill he already had.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he could beat Tyson, because the reason Holyfield was able to beat him was because he was able to match him for strength up close and take away Tyson’s strength, Tyson is great at catching guys with big punches by forcing exchanges and catching them as he closes the distance by catching them off guard, his specialty isn’t inside fighting, it’s what I just mentioned, but Holyfield just let Tyson in and made sure to stay tight as they came together, which completely neutralised Tyson’s surprise attacks by closing the distance really fast because Holyfield just let him in anyway.

Spinks didn’t do this because he didn’t have the strength to match Tyson, although he did say in the lead up to the fight, that the way to beat Tyson was the fight him back and he was indeed correct, he just didn’t have the tools, but steroids would get him from a soft 200lbs to a solid, lean 215lbs no issue, and that wouldn’t be too much muscle either, which would make a big difference.

Not sure how he’d do against Lewis, it’s all quite speculative, but I’d pick him to beat Holyfield sized up.

I actually agree. At the very least, Spinks could have had the success that Moorer had at heavyweight.
