AJ beat Klitschko two entire years after Fury - 2 years that Wladimir didn’t fight at all…. The arguement only “goes out the window” if you apply as little nuance and thinking to the situation as possible….
Wilder was a great win for Fury at the time although it's not aging too well. Wilder was always a limited boxer but he was very dangerous in his prime so big credit to Fury for taking the first fight at all. Fury was obviously far away from being ready for Wilder but took the fight anyway. I think Wilder's team underestimated Fury and were hoping to get an easy big name on his record. It really should have been AJ Vs Wilder for undisputed but we missed out on what would have been the biggest fight at the time.
Great win I literally just stated he defeated nobodies he was protected his whole career where he avoided top 10s.
The Fury-Wilder trilogy took a lot out of Wilder. He's severly damaged goods now. Fury is a very good boxer and has skills and agility unprecedented for a guy of his size. He's a very good boxer. He's just not as good as he told us he was.
Fury can beat aj, but if he loses that's going to be a disaster, Tyson is well past his prime. Furys best bet is to target Dubois or retire
Those guys have been rivals for a long time. Boxing fans deserve to see them fight. Who is better has been speculated on for a decade at least. Let's get it on!
He knocked off Wlad - who was quite clearly showing wear and tear at age 39 and on the grind of attempting his 19th consecutive defense. Did not give him a rematch. He beat the grossly overhyped, albeit hard punching Wilder in an extremely entertaining 3 fight trilogy. Lost twice to a great fighter in Usyk, despite being passed prime. He acquitted himself well, fought his heart out and was quite competitive, even if he did lose cleanly. Clear Hall of Fame fighter. Was willing to fight variety of styles which some great fighters don’t. He faced punchers, boxers, southpaws and also was as game as they come. Couldn’t keep the man on the Mat if you tried. The rising from Wilder in round 12 is the stuff of legend. Wasted large portions of his career with inactivity and sub standard opponents. H2h A bit of an enigma. On a good day you can see him giving any heavyweight who ever lived a nightmare of a matchup that he could win. On a bad day you could see a regional level fighter knocking him off. I was annoyed he didn’t grant Wlad a rematch but in the grand scheme of things he was a breath of fresh air to a division that needed it and a personality that won’t be forgotten.
Talented but not fully dedicated Should have done more and could have been an ATG, which usyk has taken away from him No shame losing to usyk, but with his thin resume, staying unbeaten and having one or 2 great wins was his ticket to being a great. Still a dangerous fighter for anyone on his day, but he didn't do enough.
Very talented but protected. Wlad and Usyk were the fights where he had to bite the bullet and fight the best out there and one win against them isn't bad, even though Wlad was past his best. By beating the one of the most overhyped fighters in history he became quite overhyped himself, but the difference is that he has real talent. Think he could have done more with it, though. After Wlad his win resume gets thin. Wilder, Whyte, Chisora... Not the stuff of legends really, but certainly one of the best of this era.
