I think we can all pinpoint the Wilder 3 fight as the time that Fury started looking to be declining. It came out after that fight that he’d been in pain during the fight and needed surgery on his elbows which I’m guessing happened around late 21.

It seems after his fight with Chisora in late 22, he injured his hand and elbow again and needed surgery again.

He just doesn’t look like the same fighter anymore. The power on his jabs and punches from Wilder 2 is gone.

If I was Fury I would probably step away now.

Wilder 2 is pretty much the only fight where he looked powerful.

You could be right but he hasn't lived the life of a dedicated professional, this could also be catching up on him plus natural aging.

It’s more likely he was on something for wilder 2&3 as that’s the only times he looked strong and powerful in his whole career.
He has been caught taking peds before too so not like he doesn’t have form of cheating.

The moment he started declining was when the British public rejected him after the Wlad victory.

It was like a modern day Sonny Liston story.

His lifestyle and running into a great like usyk is what has done him over

He had talent and size but didn't do enough with it. Despite 1 or 2 great wins, Too many easy fights on his resume

The public embraced AJ over him, even though he had just beaten the reigning champ. Bit mental really.

Wilder 3 was the second fight with 'Sugar Hill' and Wilder 2 was a transition where Hill only trained him for 6 weeks or so alongside Andy Lee, so even though Hill gets credit for that, it was a short period where he didn't have time to do much and Davison's effect was still there.

So basically as soon as Hill took complete control Fury started looking like he was regressing. Age is also a factor of course. But it's pretty suspect that Fury got heavier and sloppier and almost KO'd three times once he got with Hill. It's hard to pretend that isn't a big factor.

I don't think Fury's power looked any different from fights where he sat down on his punches before. So we have Cunningham, Abel, Schwartz where Fury stopped these guys pretty quickly when he got very aggressive. He also stopped Chisora on attrition and dropped Hammer boxing pretty defensive, meaning he had okay power even just boxing carefully.

Fury took 7 rounds to stop Wilder on a towel, being more aggressive than ever. The Fury from Cunningham fight could do the same thing.

Where did Fury's 'Kronk' power go with the mma fighter and Usyk? He tried to KO the mma fighter and couldn't even drop him. He hurt Usyk a couple of times in the first fight but not enough to drop him even with perfectly clean shots on the button. So what's the point of the extra weight and all the 'ko artist' training?

It’s not that mental. The public embrace who the marketing companies/promoters tell them to embrace. The public loved Micky ward and gatti, they hated Floyd and we know who was better.

Fury wasn’t marketed as well as AJ back then when he was with Hennessy or whoever.

The years of good marketing (manipulating the public) was with AJ, fury was too controversial back then and he changed that on his return.

On his return his team implemented a better marketing strategy to manipulate the public to their benefit. In fury’s own words he became an “uncle tom” and “sold out”.

Didn't ruin him but badly hampered him

He has changed he way he punches to accommodate his poor elbow condition. He has never been a puncher though but his jab has regressed a fair amount. His right hand overhand and straight down the pipe is almost gone. But he has improved his uppercut a massive amount a punch which doesn't extend the elbow out.

He now prefers to counterpunch throwing counters from angles most heavyweights can't handle. As Usyk said he is like an octopus.

Oscar de la hoya ringside in that Usyk rematch was begging him to throw the jab but he can't throw it anymore the way he used to.

So what was he doing to his elbows that made it necessary for him to have surgery?

Fighters get bad elbows, the sport is very strenuous on elbows.
Punching all day everyday, and worst of all when over-extending if you miss a straight punch can be so excruciating long term, it can be hard to pick up a drink of water.

They compare him to his namesake but he is so much more like Liston, especially in the elbows.
