I believe that Opetaia is too good for the rest of the cruiserweight division and there is no fighter who can threaten him, he should move to the heavyweight division...

Cruiser stinks right now. Lowest level of talent by far. If 168 pounder who wasn’t ever that great can go up to cruiser and snatch a belt from a champ easily that shows the level.

Question: I agree he should go to heavyweight but,,,Who would be a good match for him in the division?
I believe a good opponent would be Charles Martin for his heavyweight debut, a guy with a name and no longer that dangerous

The real questions are how well will his power translate to in heavyweight? Will the added weight reduce his speed and effectiveness as well?

He might do well. But I think it's still a little early for the jump just yet.

Briedis was more skilled and explosive than most heavyweights tbf.

Said he won't do it until unifying.

He should try to unify against Zurdo at the very least. Even though the talent pool at CW is shallow, Opetaia's string of defences has been dire (none of Massey, Zorro, Thompson, Nyika are top 10 fighters), with the exception of an ancient semi-retired Briedis.

I don't get why he's been fighting these no-names when he could've been going for CW undisputed, putting him on a similar path to greats like Holy field and Usyk.

He obviously isn't confident otherwise he'd already be there.
People talk about the SHW size not mattering but it clearly does, otherwise characters like this or Breidis would have just campaigned at HW. The reality is they know that they can't be as successful, because even though they might beat smaller HW's (not Usyk obviously) as soon as they run into the SHW's with ability they are in trouble.

I don't think he's physically mature enough to fight at heavy right now, which is honestly a pretty stacked division with a lot of guys competing for the Turkyi money.

Not saying he never will be, but he's not there, yet.

He can get Saudi money knocking guys out at Cruiserweight. That’s his brand right now. And he is Champion. If he moves up he is just another Top 10 contender at best. He would not a Top 20 guy. Then a Top 15 guy. Then a Top 10 guy to really settle in. It will take him at least a year probably more.

Bredis is past his expiration date. Not the same fighter he was.

Some of you guys are letting your excitement get the better of you.

He's a promising young talent. Let him refine his boxing before moving up.

Thow to him in the deep end before he's ready and you could ruin him.
