Seeing as big punching southpaws are my favourite fighters, who wins this?

I am going with Sanders assuming he is in shape.

An in shape Sanders will be quicker than Zhang. Zhang definetely has the harder right hook but Sanders has the better straight left.

I am favouring the South African man with the nuclear faster left hand to land first, badly stun Zhang and stop him in 7.

    Sanders tko 7

Sanders is simply faster and more mobile. He's also a much busier fighter and has better stamina. He goes well to both body and head. Sanders has "fought" giant dudes before in the form of a good deal of sparring with Valuev. The reports are that he lit Valuev up like a bonfire.

    So I'll take Sanders.

Where Zhang is good is that he is a clever and sneaky boxer with absolutely atomic power. With the right punch it could be over for Sanders. He also seems quite durable so might well see the distance. However his footwork ain't great and his workrate is low and comes in bursts. Not what you really want against Corrie.

Zhang is better technically, he’s more well rounded, better jab, balance, combinations.
Sanders’ game is to make you fall onto that counter straight left, but with them both being southpaws, that’d be less of a factor, and fundamental would come into it more, I’d expect Zhang to outbox Sanders, outjab him, get inside, body shots, trading hooks, hooking off of the jab.
Sanders has a very good chance of landing something big obviously, but I’d favour the fundamentals of Zhang.
Sanders’ only advantage is speed and the straight left.

I legit thought about this matchup last night, 2 underrated fighters.
Tough one, maybe Zhang though. I still have yet to see him even get damaged, the closest was seeing him gasp for air at the end of the Hrgovic fight but that's more related to stamina than durability.

I've seen both in person. Sanders was so much faster with his hands and feet that he'd be able to nail Zhang at will. He'd stop him early.

    i'd pick zhang actually.

the posts that pick sanders are not silly, i think zhang would come out battered but the winner.

Sanders was too open. bangs timing and countering would put sanders away early

Hard call, they are on a similar level , my first thought was Sanders but picking Zhang is not out of the question

Yeah, I'm kinda stunned that so many are picking Sanders to stop Zhang when he has a history of facing and surviving against great punchers. Combine that with Corrie's chin, and I think there's only really one foreseeable outcome here.

If Parker had a hard time surviving against Zhang, I see no reason that Sanders would be able to do it.

It’s because Corrie wouldn’t miss. See the Wlad fight or first round against Vitali. Those two were like Willie Pep compared to Zhang.

I reckon if they play Zhang's ring walk music slightly quickly, he empties his tank during his ring walk and Sanders stops an exhausted Big Bang in one...that's the problem with Big Bangs, you wait a long time for one then it's over in seconds....

You're completely dodging the fact that Sanders doesn't have the chin to survive against Zhang. Zhilei hasn't been KO'd at all, but you're gonna bet against him rather than the guy who got put to sleep against Nate Tubbs? Parker might as well be Willie Pep compared to Sanders, and he nearly got stopped.

This is like the Foreman - Maskaev thing all over again.

If sanders is in top form then he should take this. But anything less than a 100% from Sanders and he could potentially lose. For all his shortcomings, Zhang has an iron chin, lots of power and size.
