Most of the good journalists are mainly with the print media. Your Boxing News and that. They'll write good long form articles with real insight, and will point out the utter shitshow of the business side of things. These guys are trained in the art of journalism and interview techniques, so the good ones know how to string a sentence together and how to pry information out of someone.

The newer social media "journalists" are largely crap. Many can't write or talk for ****, and the nature of the business doesn't lend well to someone who speaks the truth. If you want access to the boxers and promoters you need to kiss arse and follow the party line, so you get sycophantic, uninspiring interviews.

Another problem with these social media journalists is that there is too much content. I've no idea who thought it would be a good idea to have endless hour long interviews with every fighter, trainer, manager, promoter and father involved in a fight, and televise every weigh in and press conference, but whoever it was is a dickhead. There is far too much non fight content in the sport and the vast majority of it is banal, repetitive, nonsense.

Yup, I tend to agree; for a niche sport, it's vastly oversaturated in terms of social media content, especially in comparison to other sports such as tennis.

The content has gone up, but the quality has declined. and once Boxxer signs with DAZN, it' becomes a micro-niche sport. I also believe the digital content is dumbing people down, especially the youngsters, there are numerous articles on the subject.

Think it's pretty obvious that the question doesn't even warrant an answer.

Honestly think we could all do a job. We just lack the writing skills.

I know someone who worked at Boxing News years ago, when a young Steve Bunce was starting out; writing skills are not necessarily a prerequisite skill. Well, back then it seems they were not. Especially when you consider how far he has gone in the game, Buncy used to post on here for time, around the time Santanta went busto.
