Going 49-0 against heavyweights is a lot harder than 50-0 vs 130-147 pounders.
No one can seriously say Rocky was more talented than Floyd, but still Rocky was fighting guys with way more power to KYTFO.

Apologies, I meant the volume of world class/rated fighters each fought. I.e., I am agreeing with you.

Whilst the poster has a point in that Marciano dominated a division he was relatively small at and as such deserves credit from a p4p perspective, he only fought world class opposition in the latter half of his 49 fights/8 year career.

Mayweather, on the other hand, was beating almost exclusively world rated fighters for c.17-years. Whilst he was effectively selecting his own opponents towards the end of that period, I still think Mayweather clearly ranks ahead of Marciano, if the quantity and quality of fighters beaten is key and material to your ranking criteria, which it is to mine.

Rocky. Despite all his handicaps he accomplished what he did. Mayweather cheapened the record by fighting a laughable opponent for his 50th win, (yes, it was all about the money I get that, but for legacy it was cheap). An MMA fighter who never even boxed before, (why isn't anyone calling Mayweather out for that fraud of a fight?).

Rocky gets a lot of attention around here for a fighter who is always bashed. Every day it seems there is a new Rocky post, "who would have won between him and Lennox, Foreman, Liston, Holmes, etc.....).

That means you hold him in much higher regard than you say you do.

Whatever...they were 40-50 pounds heavier than Floyd's opponents and packed stronger punches as a result.

If it's about this goofy magic number and you're in even a minor huff about who the fiftieth was, I have to wonder WTF it matters whether a debutante was at the beginning, middle or end of your fifty. It's inconsequential. Relative to their size, McGregor was as good as a bunch of names on Rocky's list before the title, in competence. Anyone being honest with themselves would assume that position by simply watching how he acquitted himself. And anyone could have assumed as much in the lead-up on paper, frankly.
