Looks like it’s close to being finalized. They’re really gonna do it.

This is it. We're going to see how good Crawfords boxing brain really is.

I saw Turki met up with both Canelo and Crawford. I actually think this fight is happening for real.

September is a bit of a while away which is annoying. I assume Canelo will have a tune-up fight against Scull, and I don't expect Crawford to have a fight in the meantime as I think he is recovering from surgery IIRC and he will have to get used to being a bit heavier.

I think Crawford is more skilled and talented than Canelo, I think it will still be a really really close and rather cagey fight, its hard to predict, I would be pretty surprised to even see one knockdown, and we have seen that Canelo can be outboxed in the past. However, weight is a big factor here. I'm not a huge fan of Canelo, but - in a way its kind of a high risk, low reward for Canelo because his detractors can use the excuse that Crawford is a completely blown up super middleweight, and to be fair it is quite a big jump for Crawford.

That 0 starts meeting a hell of a lot less when you have tables full of cash staring back at you. Crawford is getting violently wrecked here, he knows that, Canelo knows it, The Gobbler knows it. This is a completely meaningless fight, but it'll suck in the casuals and rake in tons of dough for the sport. Although I doubt it'll make many waves beyond that, because ultimately Terence Crawford isn't box office gold.

Considering Canelo hasn't violently wrecked anyone for years I think you are underestimating Crawford. Canelos power is not all that anymore.

Honestly, you would think people would stop being interested in such fights after: Golovkin-Brook, Canelo-Khan, Spence-Garcia and etc. This just seems like a ploy from Turki to sacrifice Crawford to bring Canelo in the Riyadh Season of influence. There are so many big fights to be made at 154, yet Crawford is gonna throw it out the window for a cash grab, which he will get totally obliterated.

Crawford didn't come close to hurting Madrimov, the way Eric Walker did. That was at 154, Bud's power will be non-existent at 168. Allowing Canelo to have his way with him, and yes... wrecking him in the process.

This is gonna be Canelo vs Charlo. Bud wins rounds early, gets tagged solid and be on survival mode the whole night.

Bud Crawford, almost age 38 (his birthday is September), jumping up two division and 14 lbs in one year or three divisions and 21 lbs in two years with one fight in between, also coming off a year of inactivity after he failed to KO a relatively new beltholder at 154 and apparently recovering from surgery of some sort as well.

...Sorry, I see ZERO excitement in this fight.

But on the other hand, he will have 8 months to prepare for the fight, which is ample time. I don´t think inactivity will play a role in this fight, it will come down to Crawford´s latest surgery and his overall preparation.

Canelo will be well compensated for his loss.

So what highly dangerous and totally deserving opponent will Canelo fight this spring?

They may be looking at a long lead time to generate the eyeballs. Remember back in the days the lead up to Leonard vs Hagler was like several months 4 or 5 if I remember correctly.
