He’s not retired.

I don’t believe a word of it.

 

Somewhere from 15-25 depending on how you view his h2h ability. Would probably be closer to 20 for me if I really thought about it.

 

I rank him in the 30's I mean what's his accomplishments? Beating Chisora 3 times? Beating a 40 year old Wlad then ducking the rematch?
Going 2-0-1 with Wilder and being on the floor more than a Persian rug ?
Then losing twice to the best fighter he fought Usyk? 30's is about right.

Fair enough mate but with Ali and Leonard their greatness made their multi-retirements forgivable.
However with Fury,his seemingly innumerable retirements and ' unretirements ' are just one of the
many reasons why I can't stand him.

 

he uses such pish to avoid, duck and buy time to try profiting from the road of lest resistance.

I like Fury, but as a Boxer he is a pure protected Fraud!!!

 

Fury left a lot on the table. He reminds me of Bowe: big, athletic guy with good fundamentals and skills, but had periods of inactivity and several poor performances due to weight/mental health issues. Neither of them fulfilled their full potential and missed several big names of their era.

Resume wise, you can make a case that Fury isn't even in the top 20. Fury has a very top heavy resume dethroning the long reigning Klitschko (pretty old) and Wilder (a sloppy, dumb, but dangerous and athletic heavy hitter) but then it gets very thin as you keep going. A trilogy with Chisora, Whyte, and several "who the hell was he again?" names such as Cunningham or McDermott just isn't cutting it when you want to make it into the top 20. And let's not forget him going life and death with Ngannou the MMA guy with zero pro fights. Losing to Usyk isn't a terrible way to go out, but when you have back to back losses to the best opponent you faced, it does raise questions just how good the fighter is.

Now in terms of h2h/boxing ability, Fury is certainly within the top 20. In his prime, he had good footwork, was a decent combination puncher, could take a punch and always got up, had decent hand speed and ring IQ for a big man. Plus, he knew how to fight tall. He'd be a handful for almost anyone when he was focused. The problem is that he was so inconsistent...kinda like Bowe.

I think Top 20 is a cinch.

I do enjoy seeing the sort that others will rank above him... breadline brutes and wharfbrawlers...

 

I don't think he will retire. But, as of now, maybe top 30. He had one or two good wins and flashes of something special. But he tried to pick, choose and talk his way to ATG status more than he physically achieved it. His resume absolutely does not bear him out as a top tier HW. He was capable of more - but didn't deliver on his potential

 

I personally put him in that 25-50 range…he could have been way better had he beaten more ranked men. Not sure what his grand total was but I don’t think it’s great.

 

I agree with practically everything you say......... except I also detest him as a person !
