I didn’t have pay tv as a kid back then. I was getting live updates on the radio, madly running about the house, pumped up hearing Holyfield was kicking his arse. Went to school on Monday and collected my winnings (a whole heap of $2 bets I had with mates :D ). Got the video tape off a kid who recorded it and watched it ad nauseam. I was a committed Commander Vander fan and this was pure vindication.

I was 13 at the time. Most probably fast asleep as in my time zone 13 year-olds shouldn't be up in the middle of the night even on a Saturday :D

I was delighted when I heard that Holyfield had won. Always liked The Real Deal, and to stop the Baddest Man On The Planet after most people feared for Holyfield's life let alone giving him a chance of winning was epic.

I was 8, but it's remember it clear as day, not the fight itself, but the build up and the aftermath.

Back then boxing was huge news and at school the next day everyone was in shock that Tyson had just been knocked out.

It was all anyone spoke about all week.

Then it went back to the usual football banter.

Watched it at the old Crown Casino in Melbourne with 3 of my mates. I feared for Holyfield’s health as a big fan so his upset win was amazing for me.

I then went out on the town (it was Sunday night in Australia) and met the lady who would become my (now ex) wife. Still an amazing day/night for me. One of the best days ever.

I was in Edmonton when I saw the Tyson vs Holyfield fight, I'll never forget because as a kid, they seemed like superhero characters with their extremely muscular physiques.

I also was in Florida during the Bowe golota fight, I could NOT believe what I was seeing with my two eyes!

At home in the U.K after staying up all night, which I did for most of the big fights. Good times.
