What Are the Greatest British Title Fights of All Time?

Apparently, Wev Grimsby and Fred Rosewest are not good enough for the hipsters on this forum anymore.

 

Its the same title with the same lineage and concept.

Most but not all Commonwealth fights are also for the British title. The British title being considered more prestigous as a national belt when the Commonwealth belt goes back to 1888 and started off as a world level title has been one of my pet peeves. People act like the UK belt is more prestigious than the UK/Canada/Australia/New Zealand/South Africa/Jamaica+ one.

 

it was also a means of 'keeping' non resident Brits out and/or away from Prized & Favoured Brit fighters, as well as being 'capitalised' on for some of the same to insure World title honours... in otherwords those in Control knew how to use it to their favour and invested interests.

 

Andy Till v Wally Swift Jnr 1992 British Light Middleweight Title
I was a great supporter of Wally and was devastated when he lost his title to Till on a waver thin points decision.It was a terrific fight,check it out

 

BTW the referee who was the sole arbiter of the fight awarded the decision to Till by half a point.The ref in question was Mickey Vann never liked him,loved to be the centre of attention

 

Gutted too. Swift´s win over Tony Collins was another cracking contest especially since Collins had Frank Warren´s backing but Swift took all of Collin´s big punches and ground him down:
