Just saw a video on YouTube about how sog was an cheat and dirty fighter but i also saw an video couple of months ago on how he was an ATG of the super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions.
Andre was a great fighter who used dirty tactic as part of his repertoire. Much like Eusebio Pedroza, Bernard Hopkins and Evander Holyfield, Ward had very good skills and combined these skills with questionable actions to create a Hall of Fame career.
If your morality says so,most ATG's I see has some form of dirty boxing or something similar, and that doesn't mean they're a full blown cheat, they still put on the effort to make it subtle, that's real ring craft!
Well said, however I would like to think he is was a little too dirty. Kovalev ball punching, head butting vs Kessler and more
Kessler was a bit hard done by and a rematch at some point would have been warranted The Kovalev "controversy" is a smoke screen, though. Some blows, most notably the last one, strayed low, but that will usually happen in fights with lots of body punching. If that was cheating then there are many cheats out there.
There are people who hate Ward and claim it's because he's a cheater who wasn't great, but who actually adore Marciano as an ATG champion. People don't always want to say or have any real self-awareness of their actual reasons for things of this nature.
Exactly correct. The guy fought the end half of his career on a bum knee and always found a way to win. He fought the best of his era and did what he had to do to win in the toughest of all sports.
I respect him but didn’t like watching him. A dirty, boring sort of fighter who got results. Much like Calzaghe but different. Not a fan of either but you can’t question their record.
Exactly…it’s just like how people will criticize Mike Tyson’s competition …But won’t criticize Larry Holmes’ competition
