You're referring to the prescribed Thyrolar? Are you saying that was illegal?

Or du you mean he admitted to taking antidepressants to lose weight?

So you think it's likely that Holy was clean during the period he put on 20 lbs muscle as a fully grown man and only started using something that would help him do just that much later? Quite a coincidence if so.

Roids is worse in boxing than other sports because a rolded up boxer can seriously injure or worse an opponent

I hate the argument that being a 3x, 4x, 5x, etc champion is somehow better than just being a 1x champion that didn’t lose and have to regain the belts. For example, is AJ a better fighter because he lost to Ruiz, and then beat him in the rematch, thus becoming a 2x champion, rather than a 1x champion? Or would it have been better for AJ to just beat Ruiz the first time and stay the champ? I think the answer is pretty obvious (or at least should be).

I love Ingo. I was nine years old when he won the title from Floyd. It was the first fight I ever listened to on the radio. He breathed new life into boxing which had been languishing in the doldrums since Marciano retired. He had a arresting smile and dimple on his chin. He was personable and he gave reporters a lot to write about with his girl friend Birgit Lundgren, his odd menu and training methods, and the photos where he held up his right hand, which he called "Toonder." I still have the sports section from the Seattle Times the day after he won the title. I spent the whole year spending my allowance at drug stores where Sports Illustrated and Sport Magazines were sold. One of the main attractions were the articles about Ingo, especially in Sport Magazine, I think the summer of 1960. You should check those magazines out.

You know what I hate, it's being called a hater for expressing an honest opinion about a fighter whose career I admire even though I don't think he's an all-time great. I admire all fighters who place their brains on the line every time the go to war. Most of my favorites are fighters who never won a title or even have winning records, and there are a lot of them. If you want to express a disagreement with someone, I suggest you use a different word than "hater" to frame your response.

    Congratulations for respecting your heritage.

I was only joking, he is great but not the cream of the crop, I agree with your point and interesting to hear how much you liked Ingo

I love Evander but can’t see any reasonable argument which would elevate him above Muhammad Ali.

IMO he has a very strong argument for greatest resume of all time

    2 fights with Mike Tyson
    2 fights with Lennox Lewis
    3 fights with Riddick Bowen
    2 fights with Michael Moorer
    George Foreman
    Larry Holmes
    Ray Mercer
    James Toney
    Hasim Rahman
    Buster Douglas

    Also fought...
    3 fights with John Ruiz
    Bert Cooper
    Alex Stewart twice
    Nikolai Valuev
    Ibragimov
    Oquendo
    Larry Donald

And if we count his cruiser run, which would of been heavyweight fights prior to the 80s

    De Leon
    2 fights with Qawi

Lot of mixed results, some great wins, some embarrassments but my oh my is it strong.

Now, based on his wins I would not put him as top dog over all other heavyweights though. Great fighter when he was on.

I love Evander, I watched him all the way from the Olympics in 1984. He’s one of my all-time favorite fighters. But, NO!!

Having names on your resume isn’t enough you also need wins over them otherwise Chisora has one of the best resumes

Holyfield has a losing record to the in prime ATG fighters he fought, he also struggled against both Holmes and Foreman both in their 40’s

Great fighter, up there in ATG maybe top ten but better than an Ali, Louis, Lewis or Foreman in terms of names and wins I don’t think so

Ali would have never lost to Vitor Belfort.
