I was talking about Dan's engine man. I think he can and will keep up with any pace Joe sets and I don't buy this myth that Joe is suddenly some defensive wizard. He beat a washed out Wilder and a one paced fat man with no stamina..and barely. Dubois is a wholly different challenge. I see a competitive but one sided fight if you see what I mean, with Parker caputuating sometime around the 8th. But.. I've been really wrong before...
You also mentioned power. I think Dubios's recent success has gone to his head a bit. His last three opponents have been happy to stand and trade, Parker isn't likely to oblige.
Parker needs to implement the same tactics as he had against wilder, though he doesn’t need to be as cautious since imo Dubois power is overrated. Ajs chin is not that good, dident ko hergovich, yes he stopped miller but Dident ko him. Dubois also has a questionable chin but he recovers and keeps on going after taking punishment so Parker might be able to ko him but I’m not sure in that though Dubois has some bad defence.
I mentioned specifically he carries his power into the late rounds as you suggested it would benefit Parker to drag him there. I'm not so sure. If Parker makes it to the late rounds he will be even more susceptible to a knock down/out as he himself will be tired. I don't buy this 'he has great stamina' argument. If Joe is allowed to fight this fight at his pace he has a great chance, I just can't see that happening. I think Dubois will set the pace, he will land punches and I'll be surprised if Joe finishes the fight. I think his wins over Wilder and Zhang were brilliant but he is now somewhat overrated because of them because I don't particularly rate either man as elite fighters. All that said, Dubois has been improving exponentially and perhaps Parker is as well. Maybe he has went up another level. It will be an interesting night for sure and I'm looking forward to it hugely. Thanks for your thoughtful replies man, take care
Who the hell knows. Dubious beat a past-it AJ and a fat man and the Croatian guy who seems to be an underachiever. Before that he got stopped by Joyce and Usyk of all people. Parker also got stopped by Joyce and then beat a way-past-it Wilder and scraped by Zhang who hits hard but is old. Main problem for Parker I think is he's getting put over quite a lot lately and either being tough or not getting hit too clean was one of his traits. If it turns out he's lost punch resistance it's going to be hard to win because Dubious isn't as gun shy as Wilder these days.
To be fair he only has one KO loss, and it took Joyce 11 rounds to grind him down. Took Zhang's power pretty well too, couldn't see Dubios surviving those shots. Just hope he doesn't lose too much movement with the extra weight.
By moving! Feints Level changes fast combos holding Make him miss- not allow him to establish his jab Frustrate DD Make him think on his feet- which will confuse and tire him Land enough power shots to keep him questioning himself Do this every round -rinse and repeat P.S don't walk on to a big right hand.....
Somewhere on the Eastern seaboard, a Willie Pep fan crawls out of its burrow, preparing for the long battle ahead.
Bart is totally right here- "Parker needs to control the pace... By moving- feints- in and out quick combos Making DD miss constantly and frustrate and panic when the rounds mount up Hurt him regularly without over committing Don't get knocked out... Done...."
I think Dubois' jab will be the trickiest thing for Parker to overcome, but I'm sure him and Andy Lee will have a plan to nullify it. Its pretty clear what Dubois' plan will be, he will come in strong and throw heavy and a lot, and will headbutt and low blow where he can. He can also keep this up for most of the fight and take quite a lot back as well. Parker will use his movement, feints, and general caginess to bamboozle Dubois, and then he has enough pop in his punches with the right timing to make Dubois second guess himself and reduce his output. Parker will slowly find more success as the fight goes on as Dubois' mental stamina depletes. Dubois has shown that he doesn't really know what to do when plan A doesn't work and can get tired and disheartened.
The idea that Parker is better than the supremely talented Dubois is a baffling one. I wonder where it originated from. There is nothing he can do to overcome Daniel.
