I'm usually a bit more diplomatic but that was a horrible take - the kind that might make some people automatically dismiss anything else said by such an offerer of opinion. Watch Duran at his LW best and how can anyone say his chin is out there, easy to hit. His shoulder roll, stance switches, head level changes, slips, weaves, head positioning whilst grappling on the inside - these are elite level skills. Skills that fighters such as Toney or Tyson would al emulate in some guise and skills that even the likes of JCC or Armstrong don't display with the same fluidity and versatility. The fact that the guy is already an ATG by the time he beats Leonard and then as a smaller fighter forced to come forward to negate the size disadvantages he held was able to last the distance with Hagler, come back from the Hearns devastation and then secure his legend by beating Barkley who should have crushed him, surely he must have some defensive responsibility - were all of the feats he achieved a stroke of luck?
I like Duran to win at lightweight. Don’t know how many fights Roberto had junior welter. Maybe pac has a chance there. Welter would be tough. Pac was awesome at welter but that’s also the division where Duran beat Leonard and palamnio while still being in his 20’s
When Duran lost to Benetiz he was only 30 yrs old, 31 yrs old when he lost to Kirland and 32 yrs old when both lost to Hagler and Hearns. Pac has become the oldest welterweight champ by fighting the top undefeated welterweight Thurman.
Post no mas Duran was always like that, inconsistent, and I think the scores for Laing still could've gone either way tbh, that's why his higher weight achievements got him in the p4p too ig. His lifestyle was also more sporadic than pac, he's quite the partygoer at times.
He's a juicer, which is how he moved from 126 and became bigger, faster and stronger. Eric Morales beat the crap outta him at 130 before he made the steroid move AND steroids work, Manny found that out 1st hand when Marquez roided up and put him to sleep
Duran at all weights, though it would be competitive. Manny's edge in handspeed and explosiveness means that Duran needs to fight a disciplined, tactical fight, employ feints, seek to counter Manny's agression and carefully choose his moments for going on the offensive. I have a feeling Duran would knock Manny out later in the fight, though a competitive UD would not suprise me.
The Duran that faced Leonard the first time would beat the hell out of Manny and stop him. And Leonard at welterweight destroys Manny in 8 rounds.
Pac has been a business man, a basketball player, an actor and a politician. He entered politic in 2010 and was elected as a representive and later senator. He also for president in his country but lost. From 2010 onwards he was just a part time boxer. He only trained when he had incoming fight. If there is a boxer whose lifestyle is the most preoccupied it would be Pac.
The first fight against Marales was competitive fight. Pac avenged his lost Morales twice and he not just defeated him but he stopped him twice. In one the threads you also accused Beterbiev of doping and now Pac. Your fond of accusation withouth proof.
Morales was arguably out of prime for the fight,he did performed well longer later on but the wars really caught up to him.
