Against cans though Briggs never really made an impact at world level with his power.

 

I'd take alot of what boxers say regarding who hit them hardest with a pinch of salt because they often leave out the guy who actually knocked them out like Lewis for example.

 

I don’t think that’s the question, but he rocked Lewis, made Mercer play dead, and had Liakovich staggering around for like a minute straight off one punch before he fell out the ring.

 

Butterbean has more impressive highlight reel KOs against similar opposition. Obviously both of them could hit hard. But both are unproven punchers at the top level

 

Rahman was very strong though he could bench press 450 pounds he had some power in that right hand and had a pretty good KO ratio.

I think it is a question though you have to atleast make an impact on world level to be rated one of the top punchers.

I've always felt like Briggs power is a bit overrated and his KO ratio flatters him because 95 percent of his resume is filled with cans.

 

He did make an impact at world level. He’d be nothing without the power. Brewster failed against the same opponent.

Just to add if I'm being fair to Briggs he did asthma right ? So I guess it would be harder for him to score stoppages when he went more rounds against better opposition.

 

If I had to stand up and pick between Moorer, Briggs, and The Bean to line up their best shot on me, I’d pick Moorer.

 

Yes, he had asthma. It’s basically why he got a draw against Botha, a loss to Fields, and a stoppage loss to Wilson.
