He really doesn't look the part but I was pleasantly shocked when he begun discussing fights Has a clue at least
Whens Ben off? Whens the deal up? Mr Privileged who came out of ****ing nowhere, doesn't have a clue what he is doing, he has completely single-handedly ruined Sky Sports Boxing.
Whens his contract up? Does anyone know. I think it's this year I'd like to see the big boxing nights on Sky back. Shalom has made an absolute mockery of sky boxing.
Was announced as a four year deal in summer 2021, so I guess this summer? Feb now so maybe 4-6 months. Usually a hot TV sports product will be renewed about 2yrs out. Less hot? A year or so (Queensberry refused renewal at TNT about a year or so out, if I remember rightly). Fringe products (eg X Games on Eurosport) can go all the way to expiry before any renewal or new agreement is done. The fact this deal hasn't yet been renewed and has only a few months left to run speaks volumes, if you know the timings of TV rights sales. It's like telling you you're on par with late night skateboarding from San Diego in terms of value to the company. I still think they don't get renewed at all. But if they do get any sort of deal, it will be a fraction of the previous one and will require most of their stable to leave.
Further to the above - the US broadcaster Peacock (NBC) removed the event from listings less than 24hr before the event was taking place, after advertising it all week. That's really weird. Benign reason could be transmission issues (need certain things in place to be able to receive /transmit an overseas live broadcast). Malign reason would be Peacock (being Comcast-owned same as Sky Sports) no longer seeing Boxxer as part of its lineup. Boxxer isn't costing them anything, so no reason to drop it unless they outright hate it OR are aware it's not going to be part of the comcast portfolio much longer. Could also just be a random one off that they decided not to air it after announcing it all week, but the only explanation for that would be technical reasons. Will have to wait and see if the next event airs on peacock. If it doesn't, that's a very worrying sign for Boxxer sky deal.
Sky and Boxxer signed Adam Azim to a 4 year exclusive deal in 2022. Sky was never gonna ditch Boxxer in 2025.
Decent action last night on Sky - enjoyed the card. Could not care who promotes as long as we are entertained.
Sky had a separate broadcast deal in place with Joshua as well. Made no difference to Matchroom leaving. What did Sky sign with Azim in 2022?
Either your very concerned about Boxxer future or you really don't like them Can't quite put my finger on it
Azim is locked in with boxxer and sky till Nov 2026. Like I said before there is no chance boxxer leaves sky in 2025. This content is protected
Sorry but I don't see anything in this post which would preclude boxxer being exited at end of current broadcast deal. The way you were talking I thought you meant you had specific contract insights /clause details. Azim mentioning Sky in a social post means nothing. It doesn't even mean he actually has a separate deal with Sky. And If he does have a separate deal like Joshua did, there's nothing to stop that separate deal carrying on without boxxer being on Sky, same as happened with Joshua. Most premium talent also have clauses in their promotional contracts allowing them to take free of their contract if their promoter loses key broadcast partner. Several boxxer fighters are known to have these - whittaker being one - so a decent chance Azim does too. But if you do have actual knowledge of the contract terms and were just using this social post to illustrate the length of the term then my apologies. Any details would be interesting, purely out of nosiness.
I've been a close watcher ever since they came from nowhere to suddenly be announced as the exclusive sky promoter. I've never seen anything like that in all my years. Initially I was positive they were a front for well-known Dubai-based interests. I no longer think that's the case, although something still doesn't add up for me. I also can't quite put my finger on it. Out of all the outfits in top level televised pro boxing, that one has got by far the weirdest feel to it. They did what, two small hall events before being announced as the exclusive long term sky boxing promoter? That's really really weird. It's never made sense. So I'm interested to see where it all goes.
