Whilst avoiding a choice i think many are simply remembering Tito by the Winky fight much like some do with RJJ.

Exactly. Tito was a much more well rounded fighter early in his career, and, if Bruce Curry could penetrate Benitez's defence, and if Carlos Palomino could fight him close, I see no reason why Trinidad couldn't do the same, if he was at his best.

    Probably El Radar

I actually thought Tito might have been at his best in 94’, particularly the Carr fight. He was patient and broke Oba down gradually. Very accurate with the jab and straight right hand, and of course used his left hook when the openings came.

Like many big punchers, he fell in love a bit with his power.

Narrow vote for Benitez but not with as much conviction as some of the previous answers. Tito was a master at welterweight and had a lot of fire power.

I think Tito would eventually stop him. The Winky Wright fight was at the end and not a good measuring stick for me. Tinidad was a sharp puncher. I don't think Benitez had any offense and I think he had a weak chin which would prove fatal against Trinidad's power.
Lots of guys found Benitez' chin, and so would Tito.

    Trinidad by KO.

I would give Tito a fair chance to crack Benitez. Felix probably would be outboxed and miss for long stretches but I wouldn’t count him out. Good fight with high drama.

Tito by KO. I think he's the best fighter to come off that island.

    I agree.
Benitez probably should be favored but Trinidad would be a live dog. Tito had elite power in both hands and he could carry that power late.

Benitez is a bit overrated around here, I think this is a closer sort of fight but I believe Tito overpowers him - Wilfred didn’t have much of an offence.

Good post and tough fight to call. I always thought Trinidad was only vulnerable to someone that could take a licking and keep on ticking with great stamina/power late. Not be outboxed and spun in circles. And that's not Benitez.

But i could be really misreading this and it ends up as a Wine and Canvas exhibition and Wilfred using the paintbrush on him for 15 long rounds.

This one is hard because not only did Tito have the edge in power but he was a big welterweight.
I can see Benitez stopping Tito off a counter punch that Tito doesn't see but I could also see Tito being too much for Benitez and stopping him.
Both didn't have the strongest of chins so both are in danger of getting dropped by punches.
