Benavidez was strong enough to push Morrell back, but would he be strong enough to push back the guy who was at times going toe to toe with Beterbiev?
Benavidez lacks cardio... he has to improve that somehow... he was giving a lecture... and he got tired and they almost knocked him out or hurt him because he got tired... he has a good jaw… Either he becomes a puncher to knock out quickly or he improves his cardio, there is no more to it...
That's against elite ex-Soviet boxers with deep amateur pedigrees and devastating power. Benavidez is none of that.
He lost to Arthur.... Benavidez is overrated and would get smoked by Beterbiev and Bivol, but he probably stops Yarde. Would be an exciting fight tho. Think it should be next because Davids not ready for the cream of the crop
Yarde has also lost to Lyndon Arthur and has 0 wins against a top 10 opponent never bet on a fighter that's known for losing efforts.
Context matters - Lyndon Arthur wasn't trying to bully Yarde and pressure him with combinations, and he still got stopped in the rematch. How often has Benavidez been in the pocket with someone who can outmuscle him and bully him back? He couldn't overtake Morrell and was clearly gassed at multiple points through the second half.
What's Yarde done since losing to Beterbiev ? he's been fighting nobodies as i said he's a fighter that's known for losing efforts not his wins at world level. Whilst Benavidez had a tough fight tonight the win could age really well depending on what Morrell does in the future he looked like a high quality fighter. I don't like to jump on the bandwagon after a big fight because emotions are running high, Yarde is a good fighter but as i said i'm not betting on a guy that's known for losing efforts and he's done nothing notable recently either.
That's reasonable, but barely edging out a washed up Gvozydk and green Morrell aren't much better than losing to two of the most terrifying names in in recent light heavyweight history. There's already evidence that the style that Benavidez used at 168 won't be as effective against people that are his size, and it won't be long before we see David forced on the back foot more than he's comfortable with.
Yarde has a loss to Arthur end of discussion ! Probably an exiting fight early on but Benavidez destroys Yarde .
