its already a better resume than GGG, who beat Jacobs and who else? Like I said, I think Morrell might become a great fighter in the future.

Benavidez has cojones. Real Mexican cojones. But I wouldn't enjoy seeing him destroyed by Beterbiev in the same way Vargas' courage got him a career ending beat down from Tito. That being said, if he could stand and bang with Beterbiev, it would be a fight for the ages akin to Hagler Hearns.

Noone is standing with Beterbiev so Benavidez needs to be defensively responsible if he decides to make that fight.

If he wins, Canelo might be willing to take on one of David's children.

DB seemed to be winning most of the rounds but 118-108 was an Adelaide Byrd card. Take that judge out for a round with Morrell in the parking lot.

Dude, you get too emotional when your fighters lose. I remember when Gvozdyk was stopped by Beterbiev and you were bitter about some shots to the back of the head or some other irrelevant crap.

DB won that. DM did well and hopefully he can learn from the fight.

He looked really bad in his last fight tho. So hes kinda on a downward trajectory already to becoming the new Sullivan Barrera.

Oh, I agree with you often and in this case I really wish the judges had agreed with you. I wanted Morrell to kick his butt.

I'm not gonna do that cos he hasn't got any lol - ridiculing Yardes non-resume fills me full of joy, and I won't surrender that joy to win some other boxing argument. My (somewhat rash) argument was however based on the reality, as i see it, that the Super Middleweight Division is a trash can, and even a hero from that nonsense division would probably be annihilated by anyone remotely competitive from the real legacy division above it.

The two Americans you watched tonight have only once interacted with that division, when Morrell clearly LOST to fringe contender Kalajdzic to "earn" this fight. Oh, and with the retirement version of The Nail, lol, who was visibly confused by how useless and weak this Benavidez boogyman turned out to be.

The reality is: there hasn't been a fighter from the American continent worth a damn at fully grown adult weights for along time, so they fight among themselves and pretend it means something. It is not at all clear, however, that they would even beat fringe contenders in the real division, because they never ever fight them.

Can't believe I slept through the knockdown. Good scrap. Wanted Morrell to win, but he seemed to show some true grit.

Rewatching the fight. Benavidez hit Morrell with probably 30 clean uppercuts up the middle through his guard, was beautiful work. So precise and clean.

I thought it was a very good fight and matchup. The guys delivered. DB is a handful. I thought he was defensively disciplined despite his commitment to attack and touched up DM more than anyone has or even might. DM is a very good fighter who is skillful and hung in tough. Despite the trash talk they both ended up respecting each other at the end. DB is a difficult guy to fight and beat. Canelo clearly does not fancy. Not that he is afraid but more like he does not think he will win.

lol, Benavidez beats a bunch of washed up smaller men and is suddenly an ATG. Plant and Morrell are both very good wins, I'll give Benavidez that despite my disdain for him, but we do need to see how those wins age.
Anthony Dirrell isn't even the best boxer in his family, he was an under-achiever and old by the time Benavidez got to him. He had gone life and death with Avni Yildirim right before for crying out loud. Lemieux was far smaller and was shot to bits. Andrade didn't belong at 168, was 35, and his career had always been a shambolic mess filled with B and C tier contenders picked for him to look good against to get a payday which never came. Gvozdyk was semi-retired and was fighting for a cheque. Caleb Plant and David Morrell are both very good wins and do legitimise Benavidez as a dangerous and capable contender but he struggled greatly to beat both men.
Golovkin has the most MW title defences in history and beat a plethora of ranked contenders like Canelo, Jacobs, Murata, Derevyanchenko, Murray, Macklin, Proksa, Rubio, Lemieux, Geale, and Stevens.

My boy lost, but what a wonderful fight.

Btw, that 118 card is a shame.

Technical difficulties I had to watch the fight this morning.
Great fight with the commentators and their usual favoring one guy and for the majority mostly highlighting what that fighter did. In this case it was Benevitez.
That being said Morrell did great but I think he just needs a little more experience.
I had Benevitez winning but that 118-108 should never judge a fight again.
Last comment for now in the round with the KD and point deduction am I the only person that noticed Benevitez hit him just after the bell and Morrell was just in the heat of the moment trying to get him back?
BS point deduction in my opinion.
    Edited for spelling

It was soooo hard but I never looked at the results so as I was watching it , it was all live to me.
Not gonna lie I felt a little goofy standing up and yelling at the action knowing the results were already in lol
