Plant said Canelo hits harder but benavidez is bigger and throws fast combos.

Wtf are you talking about what a little head movement can do? Benavidez connected 48% of his power punches while keeping Morrel at 32%. Do you have any idea how hard that is to do at world level? And flat footed? Do you not notice how fast his feet can move him backwards when you explode at him? So flat footed that Morrel couldn’t stay half a step outside his reach.
    Terrible take.

I notice lots of people just repeat the same tired often outdated takes about Benavidez, as if he has the slowest worst feet and defense in boxing. It's totally unrelated to reality.

It’s like a support group where you talk about your feelings and the other victims blow smoke up your ass for support.

Morrell looked like he studied Edgar Berlanga in training camp for this fight.

I thought this was an excellent fight. It’s rare we see good fights like this I think.
Top guys going at it in close fights, skills, power, technique, attrition etc

no Saudi bling or sucking up necessary or Brit hype, exaggeration or bias.

An excellent fight is all I needed.
    Thanks David and David.

I wouldn't say it went down. It's probably risen. His reputation as a ''monster'' destroyer might have gone down what with him having been taken the distance twice in a row now and not really being able to put a dent in either of his opponents. However, an appreciation for his defence and skills has probably increased.

I was disappointed with Morrell. Whilst he should be commended for showing toughness and grit, he didn't put much thought into what he was doing for me and he stood right in front of Benavidez eating shots. I thought he was going to, whilst still being aggressive in spurts, be loose and use lateral movement and angles and try and walk Benavidez into shots, but he fought tense and was loading up too much and not picking his shots.

That's where his lack of experience came in and him not having had to overcome much resistance or any adversity whatsoever in any of his fights sans Hot Rod and even then Hot Rod neglected to throw his combinations and didn't take the fight to him and put him under pressure like Benavidez did.

I didn't score it but Morrell won his fare share of rounds and had success of his own but I was expecting more from him in terms of skills.

That`s a good point but Benavidez is nowhere near as good as a prime Tyson, Mike was a far better finisher.

What does Saudi bling have to do with all this? Without the Suadi`s all tose top fights would never have happened, we would never have seen Fury v Usyk, if the Sudi`s came on the scene ten years ago, Fury and Wilder would have fought AJ, that era was so fustrating.

Too me, he simply solidified his status as the third best light-heavyweight in the world. He's a good fighter, but not at the same level as Bivol ot Beterbiev.

Are we still talking about Benavidez? If so, your talking strong! He's absolutely a great fighter, but not ready to defeat a great champion. Unfortunately, he has 2 of those in his current division, and he'll lose to both. He was rocked several times against DM and hit the canvas late, off balance or not! He had to fight from both feet and couldn't put the kid away. If you think he'll be going forward all night against AB, then your mistaken. Bivol is one of the smartest, if not the smartest fighter in the world. And he couldn't find the angles or even escape the pressure AB applied. And AB lands cleaner harder shots than Morrell. And I think Bivol would actually give Benavidez the business more effectively than AB would. My prediction is we'll see Benavidez struggling to cut the weight and get back to 168 very soon! With at least 1 loss on his record.
