Sure. I still see people deriding his recent wins. Undefeted Miller - who's a giant lump with some solid wins (even if he was probably on the gear) Undefeted Hrgovic - who has a win over the division's dangerman KO win over AJ, on a 4 fight win streak, former champion etc etc. DD is in form and dangerous and I still see people going but he quit against Joyce...Retired hurt fine but he's done very well since and its looking like he was right to take that loss and bounce back.
If DDD beats Parker in spectacular fashion then that’s a huge statement. Parker is looking decent these days no matter how much people call him Joey 12 on here. I slightly favor DDD here 60/40.
I genuinely thought Dan would be champ, yet I picked Joyce to beat him. All wrong for him. I reckon Dan would have beaten AJ almost anytime they fought. Seriously. All wrong for him. Styles make fights. Dubois first impressed me in what many thought was a poor showing. I'd seen all his fights but when he got into a firefight with Richard Lartey when he didn't have to, I thought this kid likes this. There's devil in him. And he took flush bombs, and not just from Lartey. His gauge of space has always impressed, his jab is always thudding yet surprisingly cultured and comes from perfectly placed feet. He doesn't rush in, had he been more impatient v AJ he'd have been starched. He's not the finished article but boy he's improving every time out. Let's see where he goes. Enjoy the ride. He MIGHT be the most exciting British heavyweight ever.... ....or he might get sparked...
Very much looking forward to this VERY live dog scrap, mate. It IS absolutely pivotal for both men here for the immediate career forwarding. Although a serious loss for Dubois would be less damaging, I think, as he's pretty much still something of a pup, he could come back from it should he lose. Not so much so for Parker if he gets obliterated.. I'm strongly rooting for Parker here, but as always, let the best man win.
I like your take, Arch. I've just got it 98/2 in favour of Dubois. Heavy favourite, in my opinion. Let's revisit it when it's all done!
I'm not going to go too in depth here but my take on it is this, as basic as it is. Parker has been around the block and gained experience fighting Ruiz, AJ, Wilder, Zhang, Whyte, Chisora, Takam who all bring different attributes to the fight game. The key to this is one word - experience. Win or Lose. Dubois was superb last time out v AJ although he nearly got caught seconds before the KO but he still lacks prime fight experience, Usyk and AJ aside. Coupled with his "invincible thinking", I think he is simply overlooking things. He is a decent puncher but he isn't elite. He is waiting to get found out, a highlight KO waiting to happen, as AJ was previously. I can see Parker winning via Points. He'll keep his distance, moving inside occasionally, to frustrate DD who'll be trying to launch. I'm not sure that DD possesses the ring IQ required. Timing, patience, know how. I don't think Parker is dim enough to engage in a full on 50/50 war. Just my (probably wrong) opinion.
Parker does not hit hard enough to deter Daniel Dubois who I expect to win by the same method as in his previous fight. Going to be full Daddy Cruel on Saturday in Saudi. Great card and cannot wait.
Why does Dubois find it almost impossible to give any credit to Don Charles? Whenever he is mentioned , Dubois talks about his dad and the ‘team effort’. Weird situation and set up if you ask me.
It's so weird isn't it? Don must be desperate to keep on that payroll as I can't imagine many trainers would put up with it
Odd. I know first hand Mark Tibbs wouldn’t work with Dubois after a short trial because of the old man’s involvement and then McGuigan publicly split with Dubois and remained with Caroline over some ‘Dubois family’ differences.
Dubois Sr gave McGuigan an ultimatum after he fell out with Caroline, that he had to stop training Caroline or he'd take Daniel elsewhere. McGuigan refused so Dubois Sr took Daniel to Charles.
