After Zuniga was denied a Visa due to some freaking virus, he did fight last Saturday, August 16th, in Columbia. He took out some no hoper in 2 rounds. At least he was finally able to get back in the ring. Through no fault of his own that was his first fight since Oganov.
I see your brain froze up again. Better go cuddle up to your slappy joe inflatable doll; maybe it will thaw out.
You really get to see what zuniga was made of. The stoppage was probably right, but it still kinda pissed me off because I thought it should have went on till the end. Zuniga just had a bloody lip, he wasnt getting totally schooled.
Why post complete and utter bull****? I was ringside, as a matter of fact up elbows on the canvas taking pictures and I ended up with a lot of blood on me. Zuniga had a vicious cut or 2 around his eye from a punch and Pav started to land consistent bombs that only an ironhead like Zuniga could stand up to but it was getting very one sided and it was a good stoppage. A great choice of opponent by Top Rank in the young Pavlik's development.
I haven't tested this other than starting a download to see if it's still active, which it is: http://pump.giala.ee/index.php?dir=...5-10-07 Kelly Pavlik vs. Fulgencio Zuniga.avi
Good post, and yes Zuniga was a very good choice at that point in time. That fight was a turning point. Afterward Kelly moved from prospect to world class very quickly.
s. You are so correct. I too was at this fight. I have not missed a KP fight in 5 years. Some papers called this the Hallowwen Massacre b/c of all the blood. Without a doubt, this was the weakest Kelly has been going into a fight. He did not have any legs at all in the first few rounds. Since this fight, Kelly has been strong from the beginning. His training is second to none.
Zuninga quit on his stool, it wasn't a doctor's stoppage. You can hear clearly at the end of the video that someone from his corner was telling the ref that Zuninga was saying in Spanish that he wanted to stop. Don't blame him. He had sustained serious damage and it was a 12 round fight for some minor title. He would have had to go another 3 rounds and I don't think he would have made it.
TFFP lets forget about Joe and hyping his previous castaways and lets truly focus on Zuniga, the guy is a ****ing monster that would seriously put Manfredo in the hospital....I just saw the complete Zuniga-Pavlik fight and what a ****ing war. I mean I thought Pavlik-Miranda was a real knockdown drag out fight but it seriously pales in comparison. You'll find yourself asking yourself aloud "How the **** can these guys keep this pace, without really slowing down?" Trust me mate you will thoroughly enjoy it I really can't believe I found it Cheers and enjoy:good
