Maybe,but I don't think he's entirely crude,he was a damn power puncher but I don't feel like he really reached that level of crude yet,I think he had some good fundamentals and had good pressure fighting,kinda lacked that dirtiness in him.

 

I agree. He just threw his hooks wide or so it seemed.

 

The little film of him that exists he looks absolutely superb. Modern and smooth.

Andre Ward's mental strength despite his crudeness.

Speak on it:

Imo I think this guy was groomed to be a champ. He learned to take big punches in the amateurs. He won a medal. He won the super 6. He beat Sergei Kovalev in the rematch by standing up to the bully. He was difficult to fight in the clinch as he was unusually strong... Kind of like a young bhop, he was very competitive and refused to be beat, doing anything he could do to win. Dirty? Yes. Pretty? No, but heck of a fighter! Not to mention all the crap he went through out if the ring, losing his pops, being a drug dealer, only having 4 fans from Oakland total lol... This dude knew when to get out of the game too! Solid pastor in his corner , who would talk to him continuosly, he even told Dre to take the Kovalev rematch! That's a fighting spirit pastor! And also with injuries this guy Andre Ward maintained his poise despite being a one armed fighter. He was hit with brutal shots from Edison Miranda... Not the most athletically gifted but did the darned best with what he could. I know s.o.g. son of golota, lol but that's just an opinion someone saying that is just water under the bridge. Andre ward was MENTALLY rough!
