I assume you’re being ironic here.

Castro isn’t really a unique name.

Kevin Watts v Steve Collins (USBA middleweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Collins
    Round 2: 10-9 Collins
    Round 3: 10-9 Collins
    Round 4: 10-9 Collins
    Round 5: 10-10 Even
    Round 6: 10-10 Even
    Round 7: 10-9 Watts
    Round 8: 10-9 Collins
    Round 9: 10-9 Watts
    Round 10: 10-9 Watts
    Round 11: 10-8 Watts (scores a knockdown)
    Round 12: 10-9 Collins

Total: 115-114 Collins (actual scores: 118-110, 115-112 and a 118-109 all for Collins)

Loved the fight. Collins got off to such a start but in the middle rounds he looked like he was gassing and Watts stepped up his attack. The last round was wild with Collins eking it on my card. Scores were way too heavy for Collins. This was a close fight even though the judges didn't see it that way.

    Chris John vs Mohammad Alfaridzi
    1: Alfaridzi 10-7
Pure domination from Alfaridzi, literally blasting and tossing John around everywhere he could, landing some heavy shots, adding insult to injury John cannot defend much with how severally rocked he was.
    2: draw 20-17
I felt like while Alfaridzi did push the action a bit more, John did land the cleaner shots and seems more defensively responsible.
    3: Alfaridzi 30-26
I think Alfa edges it with his blasting uppercuts and body blows, John lands some good blows but I think Alfaridzi matters better.
    4: John 39-36
John starts to climb as he starts to counter and exploits Alfa's low guard, while Alfaridzi still had success with his haymakers John did outwork him a bit to edge the round.
    5: John 48-46
John gets more slicker and lands more hits, but Alfa also found a new, better success in those lunging long crosses.
    6: John 57-56
John lands good one twos and combinations, also outspeed Alfa to get the round.
    7: Alfaridzi 67-65
Alfa works on the body and imo,has the action pushed better, Alfa.
    8: John 76-75
John easily works over that low guard and slips/blocks most of the incoming shots.
    9: Alfa 86-84
While Alfa seems to be taking some good punches from John,he boxed enough to land some good crosses to edge the round.
    10: Alfa 96-93
Another round he boxed enough to edge John, John did have a strong end by it wasn't enough.
    11: John 103-103
John turns back the tide heavily and pours back the punishment Alfa gave him in round one,but like John, Alfa didn't give up and kept going up.
12: Alfa had nothing left in him,a guard piercing combination puts Alfa down to the dreamland, and John is officially the new national champion.

Quite the tide turning and a dramatic back and forth fight honestly,i'd recommed you to score this underrated classic, add it up to the greatest unknown fights if you haven't.

John was still very green here and said it was the hardest fight of his entire career, not Marquez, not Juarez and not Gainer, but Alfaridzi.

From what I know about Alfa, he's basically Indonesia's Camacho in terms of popularity,he was a rising star that's promoted to be Indonesia's next champ,I thought he took too much damage and got thrown to the wolves early, just like how he got ko'ed by Somsak Sithchatchawal in 3,his lacking defense also adds up to his health that eventually led up to him dying vs Khongthawat, rip.

    Grant vs. Izon

Competitive brawl with a somewhat early stoppage. Grant had no issue with getting punched in the face for all of the complaints he gets.

I see this once years ago I don't remember much about the fight except Collins hard to survive some scary moments in the later rounds I always remember the body shot that knocked the wind out of him.

Another entertaining Collins fight is his fight vs Reggie Johnson.

Checked it out a bit ago. This is how I had it:

Reggie Johnson v Steve Collins (vacant middleweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Johnson
    Round 2: 10-9 Collins
    Round 3: 10-9 Collins
    Round 4: 10-9 Johnson
Round 5: 9-8 Johnson (Johnson wins the round but both fighters deducted 1 point for low-blows)
    Round 6: 10-9 Collins
    Round 7: 10-9 Johnson
    Round 8: 10-9 Johnson
    Round 9: 10-9 Johnson
    Round 10: 10-9 Johnson
    Round 11: 10-9 Collins
    Round 12: 10-9 Johnson

Total: 115-111 Johnson (actual scores: 115-114 and 115-113 both for Johnson and a score of 114-114 Even for a MD win for Johnson)

I had it a bit wider than the judges but I was more impressed with Johnson's accuracy and how he wasted very little. Collins was dogged right to the end and the judges clearly saw this. Not great, but a good fight. A number of low blows, elbows and heads clunking but they both hung tough.

    Juan LaPorte v Lupe Suarez

    Round 1: 10-8 LaPorte (scores a knockdown)
    Round 2: 10-9 Suarez
    Round 3: 10-9 Suarez
    Round 4: 10-9 Suarez
Round 5: 10-8 Suarez (LaPorte loses a point for a low blow)
    Round 6: 10-9 Suarez
    Round 7: 10-9 Suarez
    Round 8: 10-9 Suarez
Round 9: 10-8 Suarez (LaPorte loses a point for another low blow)
    Round 10: 10-9 Suarez

Total: 98-89 Suarez (actual scores: 98-89, 97-90 and another 97-90 all for Suarez)

Damn, Suarez was good. And LaPorte was the #1 contender at the time. This was one brilliant performance. Suarez wasn't hitting in one's and two's, he was firing combos continuously in 3-4-5-6 punch combos. One thing to mention about LaPorte's knockdown - which I missed in real time - was when they showed it on replay it was actually a nasty clash of heads followed very quickly by a LaPorte right hand that dropped Suarez. If I was watching this and not knowing anything else, I would swear Suarez was on his way to the title. He looked that good here.

I got to check this one out … as you know from earlier I was really impressed with Lupe when I saw him vs Azumah.

I don’t think I shared that I had run into Angelo a few times and would call him a friendly acquaintance. So I went and said hello when I saw him hanging out outside the locker room sometime during the undercard and he invited me to come by after the fight, said he had a good feeling about Suarez.

Even though he got KO’d, I did wander over a bit after the main event and Angelo stepped out at some point and invited me in, introduced me to Lupe and he was as nice as could be. Felt he got a tough break but wasn’t down about it or raging. Said he’d be back and thanked me for coming to see him.
