Lewis is a legit HW great but hes a bit muddled for me.. born in London to Jamaican parents represented Canada & fought mainly out of America.. i don't mean it disrespectful but kinda see him as a bit of a mongrel nationality wise.. though I suppose technically he is British, therefore he's right up there with them, .. Calzaghe was an excellent fighter also but he struggled to get the bigger fights til late on, was a bit of a talent waste to an extent.. he'd be in my top 20 list if i did one, but not quite on a par with those i mentioned. I'd have to think about it. Beterbiev.. another modern day great, I'll reserve judgement til after the weekends fight , if he beats Bivol twice & retains undisputed you can't not acknowledge him. Lomachenko is my favourite active fighter (if hes not retired) he'd be in my top 20 too. Brilliant technician, I wish he would have turned professional four years earlier though. K2 .. although vladimir had a boring style to watch you can't knock his achievements.. Not a huge fan of either but they made their mark at HW you can't not acknowledge it. All just my opinion obviously, I'm sure yours is just as valid.
Always.. great fighter.. great man in fact... has one of if not THE greatest singular win in heavyweight history.
Fitzsimmons is not european. Was Australian or New Zealander when he started boxing and also american citizen living in the US when he won World titles. Never once boxed anywhere in europe
I like that list. I’m just not sure about Oleksandr Usyk. Don’t get me wrong. The “ quality “ of his achievements are outstanding. But his professional career still only consists of 23 fights. Still awesome I’m just wondering if there aren’t other European fighters who should be higher ?
I think that's debatable. He was born in Britain to British parents, which is why his Wiki entry lists him as British.
That's fair enough, many people feel modern day greats don't stack up to historical ones.. i personally think he's an exceptional fighter & would stand up in any era. Feel free to put forward your candidates.
