ive heard things about him..... Looking at his record, it seems he was really great except for in the power department...
His resume is great but I have to say that from what I've seen of him which isn't much mind you he doesn't impress me at all. But like said it's not much footage and it might be that he wasn't at his best in those fights.
When you look at his resume, you just knew at the time he retired that decades later people would recognize his name and admit he was solid enough.
Very good. Bivins was dual HW/LHW duration champ who defended the HW one at least 7 times before the belt was done away with. His streak most likely would have continued if his fight with Walcott was 12 rounds. Bivins didn't have HW KO power but he didn't not have power. He was up 5-1 in KDs through 2 fights with Ezzard Charles.. The other duration champ was 6 ft 3 Lee Murray who was 6 inches taller than Bivins and Bivins not only won the H2H 3-2 he scored a knockdown in their 2nd fight.
Not very. I don't think he was ever even a champion. John Ruiz was a champion. We should talk more about him rather than some conjured up heroes of the past.
To my knowledge this is the only footage of him in his (LHW) prime. Any other films I've seen of him were after he'd gotten older, heavier, & slower. This content is protected
