I'm not as sure as you, but I also think that Tyson hy won and it's quite possible that it would have been a much easier victory than people think, although I appreciate Ali and I think that in 1971 he was at his prime or was very close to it.
Prime Tyson needed a gift to decision James Tillis (Cubic Zirconium Ali) who had 22 losses and he's knocking out Muhammad Ali. Boxers who couldn't carry Ali's jock strap went the distance with Tyson. A can like Mitch Green went the distance with Tyson. I was going to say if he was the equivalent of an Ali opponent he'd be Richard Dunn but Dunn was the European, British, and Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion.
Would it be more precise to say they were pressure fighters but Frazier was never as busy as Tyson and lacked the heart that made Frazier exceptional.
MIke was a very busy fighter, but Joe wasn't a slouch in that department, his smokin' was no false alarm lol. I generally agree, Mike didn't have the heart of Frazier (despite going out on his shield against Lewis)...but then, I'm not sure anybody besides Ali, Holyfield, and Holmes had that kind of heart.
Big George knocked him down six times. The crazy thing is he got up every time. Ali even said if someone hit me as many times as I hit him I'd quit.
I don't think a referee would let it get that far now. My memory of that fight was George hitting him in the back of the head after he turned him around, Angelo Dundee hollering stop the fight, and George flexing after he knocked him down. People forget what a mean guy he could be.
To be 100% confident is why you have little to zero credibility in here. It shows zero common sense, to put it mildly. Then, in the same post, you talk about an "Ali fanboy"
Uh, no. Foreman had 37 fights going into Frazier, Tyson had 27 going into Berbick. Peralta would have been ranked when Foreman fought him in 1970 and Chuvalo would have been closer to having been ranked before anyone Tyson fought prior to Berbick at the end of 86. Chuvalo was a high ranked contender the year before, and well in the top 10 the year after. So no, Foreman was not as green as Tyson in 86, most certainly not before he fought Berbick.
It's somewhat comparable but still incorrect. *Witherspoon had 15 fights before taking on Holmes. 1 contender or near contender. Spinks had 7 prior to Ali. I dare say he beat zero contenders or near contenders. Foreman had 37 fights with more quality present than anyone you mentioned including Tyson.
Frazier constantly tagged Ali with leaping left hooks. Tyson’s quick feet allowed him to initiate his punches at a much farther distance than Frazier, e.g. first right hand that put Holmes down. That’s a strength not a weakness.
