Dubois and co are terrible fighters.. yeah, maybe Beterbiev would beat them... who cares ?

The comparison with Beterbiev is uncalled for in this thread. I don´t know who were those people he was beating... did he has a knockout win like both Rocky fights with a one punch shot ?

He's been beating the best in the weight range Marciano's best opponents were. And KO'd everyone but one of them.

There was thread here recently about him vs Buddy Baer and most seemed to think he was way to small to stand a chance against Baer. But when the same is applied to Marciano and bigger and, frankly, better fighters it's all of a sudden a sacrilegious overbelief in size.

Lewis would absolutely starch Carnera. And I suppose the fact that many think Lewis would beat Marciano as well is "the abuse" you're talking about?

No, no. Lewis would stop Marciano, fine..... my "abuse" comment was about some jokes that are posted in every Marciano thread... If Marciano was a guy with many annoying fanboys in the Classic I would understand it as a reaction, but I don´t see why... In another thread not that long ago he was called a horrible person, a jerk, a guy with no skill, nobody never ever picks him to win against nobody etc...

While Sonny Liston and Larry Holmes, and others... are highly viewed here...it´s odd.

Fair enough, being disrespectful against a great champion is very weak, I agree.

Holmes was a wholly different kind of fighter, so I can see how he is given more confidence in match-up against the modern giants, especially since a fighter his size who also relies on boxing skill rather than force is dominating the division.

Liston is a bit different, but he had a pile driver jab and very long reach for his height so people probably feel he could do a number on the big guys with that jab. Frazier, on the other hand, is like Marciano probably not either seen as the best fit against the big guys, since he also relied on cutting the distance and would be vulnerable when doing so.

This might be correct or incorrect, but predictions like these are not a sign of disrespect imo. Belittling Marciano is, though.

Well I do,,Rocky has absolutely no chance with the men I mentioned. Marciano is 5"10 with a 69 inch reach and weighed 185 pounds.
He's far more suited to have a great fight with Beterbiev than with Sonny Liston

If you were around back then you would lose a lot of money in Liston vs Clay 1.

Honestly I hate the whole… Both guys punch hard but this guy punched harder and that’ll decide the fight, like, let’s be serious here even when everybody says a guy hits harder then the rest it can even just be down to the style or how often a guy is throwing shots with everything behind it like Shavers, Ruddock or Foreman… those guys strained themselves throwing hard shots in sloppy ways because there whole thing was hitting hard, I wonder how hard Louis would hit if he threw everything behind it instead of trying to pick good spots? What if he just went full Satterfield and threw nothing but murder punches? I say a guy hits hard or he doesn’t in my evaluations instead of trying to knit pick imaginary power levels. Marciano hit hard but could he damage a guy as big as Vitali? Well that’s unproven, similar to a lot of old timers BUT Dempsey KO’d Willard, destroyed him, his whole thing was being big and durable wasn’t it? I think Marciano’s issue is his style not his power, big guys like Lennox would just lean on Marciano and cancel his inside fighting all together.

I have been wondering if there are top guys at light heavyweight who could beat a decently ranked heavyweights if they were to stay at there weight which is 180-185ish.

When I say decently I don't mean like Uysk but like could Bivol and Beterbiev beat a 20-50ish heavyweight

Honestly I think Marciano would beat the breaks off of Liston, terrible match up for Sonny.

That’s the issue… you HAVE to be 200lbs+ to even be allowed to fight at HW now.

    For sure but hypothetically speaking.

Obviously in other era's the theory could be tested but heavyweights weren't as large anyway. I personally think they could win up till you have a certain point then it's too much the size does matter at some point.

I mean I'd bet on Bivol to outbox some of the more lumbering Heavyweights.
