I have never been a Floyd fan but i have always respected what he brings to the table.

I must admit i bought into the Hatton is a nightmare for Floyd for a while right up until the weight in when Hatton is being weighed and Floyd was stood behind him and it hit me for the first time how big and strong Floyd looked.

 

I remember that weigh in as well when the two got into each other's face and pushed and shoved each other trying to show their strenght. I remember seeing Hatton push PBF but him not moving or backing down. That was a classic weigh-in, the crowd was great.:good

 

Don't judge the physical peak by age,there are many examples.

 

What makes the weight issue so dumb is that im pretty sure most of Hatton opponents that he fights at 140 come at 150 pounds or close to it on fight night but guess what Floyd comes to weigh ins at 146 and comes at fight night at 148 pounds, so it was'nt any weight issue that beat Hatton it was the skill level being displayed against Hatton that beat him.

Hatton could have weighed 149 against Mayweather. He could have weighed 141. At Jnr Welter, Mayweather would have been the same weight, as would Hatton.

The reason why this fight was made at 147 anyway was obvious, Floyd was coming off a win at 154, he won't move down two weights for one fight. Hatton called for this fight and kept mentioning it over and over claiming Floyd retired because he's "scared" of him and also said he would move up for it, that's how confident he was in his abilities to beat Floyd. This is also a fight the public heavily demanded since both were at 140 so it's only logical and fair to the boxing public to make a big event like this happen.

 

There's a reason Hatton's team turned down a fight with Floyd at 140 and that reason is that he was simply TOO fast and too strong at that weight. Hatton's team took the fight based on Floyd's performance against DLH, that fight was so close so they took the risk and signed it expecting Hatton's aggression and stamina to trouble Floyd as did DLH's aggression(but stamina failed him). If anything Floyd showed his speed is not similar and nor is his activity, at 140 that wasn't the case at all and not even close.

 

Hatton would have been more competitive at 140, particularly if there was a fair ref.

He'd still lose mind you.
