I think that Michael would probably get a technical stoppage off of Mercer at some point in the mid to late rounds of the fight, Ray's chin isn't what it used to be by this point in time.
I really was a big Moorer fan. Watched him early on Tuesday Night fights and Espn. Have to say, he's not putting Mercer anywhere. Mercer sooner or later is going to get him. Moorer isnt taking that.
Mercer was an old dog for sure and no doubt Moorer had some pop, but I don’t think he had enough power to take out even an older Mercer. Ray took some absolute bombs from Klitschko in their fight and help up pretty well for a while there.
Yeah, for a bit, but I feel like he's going to end up getting put into a corner pretty quickly like against Wlad. Won't say stoppage in 6, but maybe stoppage in 8, or 9. The issue is that Mercer was so far gone that he was dropping every round to the only good opponent he faced at the time. The Wlad win was very sad, he was barely throwing any punches, and just standing there to get hit. Even if you say he lasts, he just gets outworked to a lopsided decision or something similar, very bad state for Ray. I'm big fans of both of these guys, some of my favorite heavyweights with Ray being from my home state and Michael being a southpaw (just like yours truly), and what I really would've liked to see, would be a catchup in the early to mid nineties.
This is possibly one of the only iterations of this fight where Moorer has a decent chance of winning. Mercer was in his forties, and totally shot against Klitschko.
I reluctantly went with Moorer by a decision but at that point anything could have happened. Both these guys were basically done
