Whether it be "a punch from the gods" or "a bad game plan" or "a distracted performance", we have seen many excuses laid out when big name fighters lose. I'm not referring to close fights or robberies, but stuff more along the lines of Tyson Fury glove gate, Andy Ruiz' "punch from the gods", or Pacquiao's socks. Some fighters have more rabid fanbases than others. What are your favorite excuses, and which fighter has had more than their fair share made for them?

Windmill Wilder is a clear winner here after his Fury losses.

If we're talking about fan-made excuses too, then it's Duran for the second Leonard fight.

Wilder fanboys went full conspiracy rather than excuses. I dont know if "Fury had horseshoe in his glove" is an excuse, or just a bat shyte crazy alternate reality stuff.

I remember after Wilder's 2nd fight with / first loss to Fury he blamed the ultra-heavy costume he wore into the ring for taking too much out of him. So he wore a slimmed-down variation for his 3rd fight with Fury, got clobbered even worse... then blamed Fury for using his weight against him....

Ummm, yeah. That's kinda the idea in the heavyweight division. And your point is...?

Wilder against Fury in the second fight.

His soul was taken away that night and he couldn't deal with that.

Are you lot knew to boxing?

the conspiracies when Mike Tyson lost and when George Foreman lost were much bigger.
Some People still refuse to accept Tyson buying an ear off was the victims fault.

But Pac-Man has to be up there for me, wrong socks + several others.

anyway, I think it would be a much shorter list if you asked, which champion took their loss well and accepted it saying “he was the better man”?

I don’t understand the obsession with fighters expected to embrace losing when it’s against their nature.

Parker has a 100% record in excuses made after losses

lost to whyte because of a headbutt
lost to Joyce as he was bedridden fight week despite throwing more punches in that than nearly all other fights
lost to Joshua because of referee

    lol

Does it on the sly, plays the nice guy humble act after losses and then makes the excuses when the other boxer isn't in front of him

A lot do that, “I’m not making any excuses….” Then 2 interviews later they reel off the excuses.

Drugged Vlad in the Brewster fight.

    Japan hooker Tyson.

Lennox "being too relaxed" any time he got one punch KTFO.

Joshua "just using the wrong strategy!!" against Usyk 1 & 2 and Dubois. Also "punch from the gods" every time he gets cracked.

    Lotta great HW excuses
