Any fights that you can think of where you felt a fight went on longer than necessary due to the one sided nature and severe punishment that the losing fighter was receiving throughout? There's plenty examples of one sided fights that somehow went the distance without the referee or corner stopping the fight but which fight stands out the most where you would have been totally fine with the referee stopping it much earlier? I wouldn't have mind a referee stoppage of Vitali Klitschko vs Shannon Briggs. That was a beating that didn't need to go full 12 rounds.
Thrilla in Manila is a classical an weird case; because both fighters were at the end of their ropes. Barney Ross versus Armstrong is a classical example.
Pacquiao vs Algieri had no reason to keep going, especially after this KD. The comedic timing of it with the commentary would have been even more perfect had the ref stopped it right there. This content is protected
Mark Kaylor v Dwight 'Tiger' Walker - Kaylor had so much blood loss from cuts that the ring, both combatants and the referee looked like they had been in the prom scene from Carrie. But the ref would not stop the fight and never appeared to call in a doctor and when the final bell rang he awarded the fight to his countryman Kaylor. Who probably needed a transfusion later.
I think the ref made the right decision to let the fight go on, but a lot of people thought the first Fury V Usyk fight should have been stopped in the 9th round when Fury was rocked to his boots. I still can't believe Fury also got up in the 12th round by that combo by Wilder in their first fight in 2019, and won the rest of the round. Most boxing fans are IMO fairly unsympathetic when it comes to these things because they don't know what its like being in their shoes - and they want entertainment. However, I think most of them would have understood if the referee had waved it off when Fury fell onto the canvas then.
