In the context of the early 60s Machen and Chinvalo are top notch opponents. They are especially tough as nails opponents who are built to survive someone like Marciano.

In general, I would agree but Machen had only won one of his previous six fights when he fought Quarry and, while I respect, Chuvalo, I liken him to Derek Chisora. Chisora is good, can pull off the occasional very good win but definitely loses most of his big fights. In fact, that pretty much describes Quarry as well although he was more skilled than them.

I am not knocking Chisora, Chuvalo or Quarry. They are all skilled, good fighters but they are not the kind who go 49-0 against Marciano's opponents.

I think Charles would beat him convincingly. JJW is a toss up as is Archie Moore. Layne v Quarry is a fun fight night but I’d pick Quarry. He struggles badly against Lastarza but Lastarza prob outlasts him mid rounds on.
