Bivol was in his absolute prime and he barely scraped a majority decision against 40 year old Beterbiev who has had so many injuries and surgeries the last few years

Yes! And also because he popped dirty for eight different steroids which were conveniently ignored by the commissions, rehydrated to 230lbs on the night, clinched, elbowed and rabbit punched Beterbiev throughout the fight, and had three of his family members as judges and his mum as the ref.

Absolutely shameful home cooking. Asterisks all round.

It was a very good win. Going by your logic, all boxer's records will be full of asterisks.

He was 40 years old most boxers are retired by that age

Beterbiev turned pro one year before Bivol. That was his choice to remain an amateur as long as he did, save the sob story.

If anything, an asterisk should be next to Beterbievs “win” over Bivol,

And yet Beterbiev was an undefeated and undisputed champion. Even at 40, Beterbiev was still close to the top of his game and was a great win for Bivol.

Most boxers are pros before they're 28 as well.

According to official punch stats - Beterbiev out landed Bivol a total of 6 rounds to 5 with one round even. The rounds that Bivol landed more, in the 5 rounds, most of those were Jabs. Bivol did outland Beterbiev in total with 142 to 137. A whopping 5 punch difference. Accordning to my amatuer eye, regardless if Bivol outlanded Beterbiev with a total of 5 punches in all, most of those were jabs 58 to 47 with Beterbiev outlanding Bivol with Power punches 90 to 84.
I know alot of folks say CompuBox stats to mean sh*t but To me, with how busy Betebiev was 682 total punches thrown to Bivol's 423, I just favored the guy who landed more power punches and was busier. I'm not mad that Biovl won, not at all, but I had Beterbiev winning, or at least a draw. So that's why I voted for the asterisk.

Yeah I wasn’t that impressed with Bivol constantly on the back foot against a 40 year old either. Looked like he was getting out worked and out punched to me as well. Little bit of an asterisk for me but still a good win.

Bivol lost the first fight. And was running for his life getting busted up in the 12th round by a 40 year old man barely scraping by with the W(very good case for it being a draw) in the rematch. There isn't an argument for Bivol having a leg up on Beterbiev. He can't even convincingly beat him in the end stages of his career. Much like GGG/Clenelo.

If Bivol had fought Beterbiev a few years ago instead of wasting his time against B level guys on undercards he wouldn't of heard the final bell.

Bivol is not as tough or powerful as a prime Gvozdyk who I think is Beterbiev's best win.

What are people suggesting, the older guy gets a round or two head start on the scorecards?

    Move on.

Agreed on SOME points, but prior to Beterbiev Bivol 1, during the press conference, a journalist asked Beterbiev why their fight had taken so long to which Beterbiev responded, "I dont know, ask him (Bivol)".

It DID seem that Bivol waited Beter out a bit if I'm being honest. That's not to say their fights would've been any less competitive, though I personally think younger Beter steamrolls, but it makes one wonder.

And yes it is also true Beters "win" was questionable too.
