Bivol is 34, I wouldn’t say he was in his absolute prime but obviously a lot younger than Beterbiev. That being said, Bivols style relies more on youth than Beterbiev. I would assume Beterbiev declined since the Gvozdyk fight, probably 80% of what he was then. It’s not this massive drop where he was completely shot.

Had Beterbiev not pulled his foot of the gas pedal in round 7, he would knock out Bivol in the rematch. Too bad.

Not really, you have to admit theres a little bit of an asterisk for Bivol considering Beterbiev was a 40 year old in both fights with no knees. Anyone else would be considered very old at that age. I think the real test for Bivol will be Benavidez who’s getting very underestimated IMO.

If only stamina wasn’t a thing and managing your gas tank wasn’t necessary. Everyone could throw 1000 punches at full power and still have the strength to absorb punishment back. If only.

Well, when your best win is over a 40 year old? It at least tends to question how good you actually are.

He did turn pro at 28 tho. This is his 12th year as a pro, which is not that extensive, but still remarkable.

    Did Beterbiev test positive?

    Nah, that’s BS.

Beterbiev nuthuggers were claiming all sorts of crap before Bivol took care of business. Beterbiev nuthuggers basically said he was unbeatable and that he could even step up to CW and KO Opetaia (hilarious, Jai takes him out in 6 rounds), etc.

Now he’s been beaten (arguably twice) by a better guy all the excuses come out.

It’s a sour grape thread, nothing more.

Excuses everyone wanted to see this fight and many picked Beterbiev to win so for me this is just copium.

The only asterisk is Beterbiev's win over Bivol the 1st time which many disagreed with.

Bivol beat him comprehensively the 2nd time and has been the better fighter clearly over the 2 fights.

Bivol is also 34 years old and has been a professional for near enough the same amount of time as Beterbiev and has had more championship fights he's not a spring chicken himself.

That's the 1st fight not the 2nd fight.

The 2nd fight Bivol outlanded Beterbiev in 9 out of the 12 rounds and landed 170 punches to 121 punches for Beterbiev.

Beterbiev only landed 17 percent of his punches in the 2nd fight it was a clear win for Bivol he took control of the fight in rounds 1-3 and won pretty much every round after the 6th round.

There's 0 argument for Beterbiev winning the 2nd fight unless you can't score a fight.

Does Beterbiev have an asterisk beside his win over Bivol as well?

So, in your mind an almost 60 year old retired boxer, out of the sport for 25 years, is the same as a 40 year old active, undefeated champ, because of roids?

No I’m just saying roids don’t do all the work

114-114, 115-113 and 116-112 is comprehensive to you? Literally 1 point on the official cards from the fight being scored a draw. Losing the first fight and barely scraping by with a w getting busted up and hurt in the 12th round isn't "clearly" better.
