Emanuel Augustus was the first one to come to mind for me. Sergio Martinez had a pretty unique style.
Tyson. Never going to see anything close to that. Ali too. But he's easier to imitate. Not at the same level, but some fighters had decent success copying his movement. No one can successfully imitate Tyson.
Naz first that sprang to mind Herol Graham - half limbo dancer half boxer, one of my favourites Eubanks - just all that strutting around
When I think 'unique' style.... First name that comes to mind is when I saw Emanuel Augustus. Talk about a fighter who 'gets into rhythm'.......literally. Some would call it showboating but it was simply why he did. His style. He was a very underrated fighter. Highly entertaining and respectful of the sport, his opponent and the fans.
Prince naseem gets my vote. I can remember my older brother waking me up late at night ‘you’ve gotta come see this!’ We’d never seen anyone fight like that before. I was about 10 years old at the time I think
Manny and Tyson style became who they were. I totally agree with you. Manny did some unorthodox things in the ring that you wouldn't train any fighter to do on purpose but it worked for what he was doing in the ring. Tyson still remains the fastest power punching monster I've ever seen. A man that small compared to his opponent, that can get 4 punch combo off without throwing a single jab was crazy. I still argue that people don't give Tyson his flowers for the actual technique he displayed in the ring. The public mainly speak on his power and specifc punches that get the knockout, but he was very, very technical in there.
Exactly. It still gives me the huge "What If"..... in regards to Cus D'Amato passing so early in his career. If Tyson could have matured and continued to develop into this unhuman-like force, avoiding the nonsense that he was creating outside the ring, mainly jail time. The newer generation doesn't understand how young Mike was when he was being called the "Baddest Man On The Planet".....they only barely remember him due to the Holyfield incident and beyond.
