I didn't see the "ATG" in the OP. Grant did have potential though, He looked like the goods after the Golota fight, but wasn't ready for Lewis. He was rushed because he was an American hopeful, but Lennox ended his prime. He was never the same after that fight.

Tae Shik Kim looked like a legit H2H ATG against the quality Luis Ibarra... For one night only.

Surely this is Terry McGovern? Absolutely invincible against ATG competition, butchered top tier champions remorselessly for two years, followed by a total mental and physical collapse.

I'm not going to top Terry McGovern who is the definitive answer to this question. His star shone star as brightly, arguably even more brightly, then Henry Armstrong's, it's dimming was just far quicker and more dramatic.

Bolo's mention of Jack Kid Berg is a good shout, too.

Believe it or not Ray Leonard.
He accomplished in 40 total fights what most ATG'S do in about 100.
In 13 fights , he fought and beat one of the greatest defensive fighters in history, and a top twenty welterweight head to head in Benitez.
He fought and beat the greatest lightweight in history, and probably one of the most underrated welterweights in history, in Roberto Duran, who judging by the caliber of the opponents he beat at the weight, probably would be more than a match for most welters in history.
He beat possibly the most imposing welterweight in history when considering the totality of his abilities and size advantages in Thomas Hearns.
Leonard was the 1st to beat, and possibly ruined Ayub Kalule at super welterweight.
He beat one of the greatest middleweights in history in Marvin Hagler.
Followed that up with a very good win over the much bigger Don Lalonde at super middle/ Lt.heavy.
Between the eye injury, multiple "retirements" and personal demons, Leonard had a legendary career in a relatively short period of time and number of fights.

Yeah, and somehow he still held his own post prime, Donny Lalonde was probably kinda drained vs Leonard, but it's still no joke that Leonard literally got yeeted by Lalonde, only to flung the bigger man back to the canvas.

Some good mentions but McGovern is the best example of this.
