Terrible matchup for Toney. Calzaghe had lightning fast hands and would never have let up. Also, Toney was always struggling at the lighter weights and constantly needed to move up to maintain his level. Roy Jones was the ultimate example of this.
Please, tell me all about Jeff Lacy's best win going into the Calslappy fight. Tell me about Jeff's tremendous talent and versatile style. Tell me about everything he accomplished after. Then I'll tell you if that sounds like a prospect gone bust.
It doesn't seem like educating you would be a worthwhile exercise. You appear to have already formed too many ill-considered opinions. I'm thinking you might be a hater. At any rate, have a nice day.
Exactly. And it’s idiots like toney who always go on about “those Russians be cheatin all the time doe!”
Who said anything about him being a great? The thread is about whether he is a failure or not and plainly he isn't a failure.
By all means, educate me on Jeff Lacy's best win. To save you some time, I've seen the press clippings the Calslappy fanboys have posted here for decades of media folks predicting Calzaghe-Lacy in favor of Lacy.
Wilder's poor punch resistance was shown early in his career when tomato cans Dustin Nichols and Harold Sconiers had him on the deck and then again when featherfisted Tyson Fury pulverized his fragile chin.
Thiis is true. This is NOT true. I'm not a fan of Wilde. However, he was faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from being a failure. @kirk explained it for you better than I could. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/james-toney-wilder-is-a-failure.734738/#post-23332703 What have you achieved compared to what Wider did ? If he's a failure, what does that make you ?
i agree with you wilders resume is at least in parts only mediocore . When it comes to usyk , beating aj and fury is honorable , the rest not . He has whitherspoon , chisora , kid version of dubois , aj and fury on his counter . Calling it "sweet" needs imho the ukrainian rose coloured glasses . Its unbelievable a boxer with such a legacy gets an undisputed shot at all . To be fair : usyk,s skills are without a doubt absolute world class and his legacy in cw was simply amazing .
I’m surprised that we as a community allowed a delusional Wilder hater thread, by a poster literally named “WildersGlassJaw” to go on this long. He was a flawed heavyweight champion with a few great assets, namely his ATG power, that enabled him to excel given his late start and other limitations.. He also put on some very exciting fights. The people talking smack are schmucks on the internet who have likely never felt a punch in their life. People can have opinions, it doesn’t change Wilders real life accomplishments, or the fact that he will almost certainly be in the hall of fame.
