Took his lumps in the Lewis fight,by as early as the third round he probably knew he wasn't going to get Lewis out of there.

It's a terrible stylistic match up for Joe.

I've always thought the same thing, the 1st round would tell the tale

Tyson by stoppage early. Anywhere from 1-3. Frazier was as tough as they come but he bringing his head to Tyson. Joe did Bob and weave well but with Tyson's uppercut with either hand it's just a matter of time. Mike faster, more explosive, two handed power.
I don't think heart and stamina enter in to this one.

I do agree that the earlier Frazier could hurt Tyson the better for Joe, though I think Frazier would still need to grind down Tyson.
Another thing for Frazier is to keep the infight going when Tyson prefers to clinch, break and re-boot.
    Favor prime Tyson.

Absolutely. What I mean is that if he doesn't hurt Tyson early he's getting overwhelmed - pretty fast. He needs to give him something about.

Agree on Frazier needing to keep it inside and constant, absolutely.

The fact that Mike comes forward all the time puts him right in Joe's wheelhouse. There's also the question of durability: Joe proved his over and over, clutching victory from the jaws of defeat more than once. Mike never did that...if Mike was floored he was going to lose, there was never an exception to that.

Mike floors Joe, perhaps more than once, but gets spooked badly when the latter gets up each time and is more than ready to start fighting again, jumping around and beating his gloves together whilst summoning the Smokin'. An astonished Mike tries his more cautious approach and gets massacred in 8.

I think it’s not a good outlook for Joe. But if he can see the start of round 7 he could really start to take over with his relentless work rate. But chances of that are not in his favour. He will last longer than Marvis did, that is certain.

I really think this is a simple Mike early, Joe late. And those are absolute. Joe can't win early, Mike can't win late. But, what a fight. I've went back and forth with this over the years and I'm now thinking Mike is the most likely with one caveat...nobody will have gone to Mike's body like Joe will. What a fight, I don't buy the 'Tyson was a bully/will quit' nonsense.

Tyson in 5. Too much of a mountain for Frazier to climb in the early rounds.

This is exactly where I think the difference lies--Tyson never faced anyone who had the relentless punishing body attack like peak Frazier. If Joe survived Tyson's early barrage this is where he'd grind him down and eventually get him--(KO or stoppage.)

FOTC Frazier...March 8, 1971...in that condition...in that state of mind...beats Tyson every time! Frazier was never the same fighter again...he left everything in the ring that night against Ali in '71. You would have had to kill Joe that night to beat him...Tyson wilts under the pressure.

Your right that Joe would probably get up a couple of times still dangerous and firing his lefthook. I don't know that it would spook Tyson as long as Mike was still able to hit Joe cleanly.

It's possible Joe could land a clean hook that gives Mike pause but could he hit Tyson consistently? That's when Tyson broke mentally when he was touched with return fire over a period of rounds. He had a glass mind but his chin was very strong.

Agree 100%--Tyson would not be able to match Joe's almost superhuman drive and will to win at all costs!
