To some degree I would call Seth Mitchell, David Price, Odlanier Solis hype jobs. Maybe Amir Mansour after his comeback. But I find that term way too harsh. These guys are literally putting their healths at risk.
1.....As I said, the point is he has his entire career in front of him still so calling him a hype job after a bad showing that resulted in a loss is ignorant as we don't know what he has learned from it and if he develops into a better competitor or not. I used Canelo because afer his loss to Floyd, he too was called overrated and/or comments were made that he should hang up his gloves. It sounded silly back then and even more today. I don't know the future so I can't say how silly Jared Anderson or any of those other young guns being called a hypejob would be 10 years from now, but I'm simply saying we don't know and they are all talented. Even if not as talented as being promoted before their "exposure" in the ring of their flaw(s). 2. I'm a grown man. Been a grown man for decades. Your emotions on my speech is a factor I can careless about. If I'm calling you out your name and/or attacking you and you express a disliking to it, then that would be different, but 'buddy' or 'pal'.......All I can say is ......... Get over it or simply ignore me. Understand that I don't exist in your life beyond this message board. You can simply bypass my comments and never have to deal with me. What's lame is you begging me to stop saying something that you aren't forced to read let alone reply to. Grow up kid......(is that condescending as well?.......lol)
I won’t lie, bud - I thought Dominick Guinn was destined for greatness. I’m still baffled that he just fizzled out.
He had literally everything: power, chin, handspeed, good feet, durability.............................and no fire whatsoever.
David Morrell is a tough one to call a hype job. He aquitted himself well against Benevidas. For only having 10-11 pro fights. I think he's the goods.
Messi was okay. he had to retire due to a brain injuries he had suffered against Jirov so I don't think it is fair to call him a hype as he was undefeated and moving up the ranks before his health failed him. had he fought for a title with his resume then yeah I would call him a hype job instead he is a boxer who's career ended prematurely.
Frankie Gomez, Jose Benavidez, Amir Imam, Seth Mitchell, Jared Anderson, Erickson Lubin, Felix Verdejo
Clearly not the biggest, but Erickson Lubin has been a complete bust. Two terrible losses at the world level, and now a gift decision to boot.
OOOooo. I forgot all about DG. Yea, that is the perfect example if we were simply discussing "hypejobs"..... I too thought that he had a style that would garner the attention he needed to turn himself into a star. He looked good vs his competition early on in his career, but then it seemed as though he couldn't find a win anywhere. I think he lost like 6 of his last 9 fights. I saw a clip of him fighting someone name Donnie Davidson or something like that late in his career. It was schedule for 4 rounds or something as if he was in his debut.
I think that AJ version 3.0 (the rebuild after the Usyk losses) may have had the most hype relative to substance in a long, long time. Think about it, this was a fighter who took out an 0-1 MMA fighter in Ngannou, and then...Otto Wallin...and people were beginning to favor him in a 3rd fight against Usyk. How absurd does that sound now? He was a 10-1 favorite over Dubois and got outBOXED, out fought, beaten up and stopped. How absurd are those odds now? Most of this forum was claiming Joshua to be the #2 HW above Fury before Dubois, and now he's a theoretical #10 with no fight lined up and looks finished. Insane hype.
