I just found this book at a thrift store where I went hoping to find a boxing book but expecting nothing. I bought it. So far, one and a half chapters into it, it seems very solid. Anyone of you read it here, and of you completed it, what did you think of it??
I’ve never read anything by Bob Mee I liked, but I do admit a little curiosity about this one despite myself.
Oh...I didnt even see the author's name tbh. I just thought "wow a book on Tiger Flowers?'" One of the champions i dont read much about except for his untimely death. And i have no idea who Bob Mee is ...beats me! lol
I know nothing of Bob Mee — googled him and apparently he’s part of the crew on Sky TV and has written a good bit about boxing — but the idea of a book on Tiger Flowers intrigues me.
Here are differing views on how good Mee's book is. See https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/best-classic-era-books.601207/#post-18998113
BTW, I returned to the same store where found Flowers' book and found not only the book by Tyson Fury's wife but a book written by....a friend I haven't seen in 25 years! I had to open his book to confirm it was him and sure enough there are current photos of the places we used to hang out at! Lmao I picked the book, thought "if this is not some kind of Bridget Jones' Diary scene here" and bought it lmao...
Its a great little store. I have also bought a book about the Boston Celtics (my favorite NBA team) and they have a wide arrange of topics, from religion to crimes lol... I think its a franchise too.
I’m pretty sure @klompton2 had some things to say regarding it’s quality, I know he’s everyone’s favourite around here but he does know a lot more then most, most especially on the topic of writing a boxing book. Positive he said it’s BS or something.
