Greater/Better fighter: Victor Galindez or Dwight Muhammad Qawi

Two strong bullish fighters known for their fierce style of fighting, ruggedness, and also crafty boxing skills where they showed good defense and sneaky counter punches as well. Who would you say has the greater resume overall and who was the better H2H fighter at 175? I think they’re both pretty close together skill wise.

I think Qawi at his peak was a better H2H fighter Galindez had alot of close fights and was fortunate to win some of them vs Burnett, Lopez x2. For me Qawi just looked more impressive on film his defence, counter punching, aggression were next level. He also moved up in weight and was competitive vs much bigger fighters.

They have 1 common opponent Mike Rossman who Galindez went 1-1 with and Qawi basically beat up Rossman like he owed him money.

Regarding who has the better resume though ? Galindez has more world title wins but Qawi won titles in 2 different weightclasses it's what names you prefer honestly.

I believe that Qawi wins via late round stoppage or decision

 

h2h, I prefer Qawi - a more polished technician IMO, & more impressive/decisive in his wins.

Galindez may have a bit deeper resume though.

 

Galindez makes my top 20 all time at LHW and Qawi doesn't, based solely on fights contested in that division in.

The difference isn't vast though and factoring in Qawi's exploits at higher weights, even the loss in Holyfield 1 speaks for him, I suspect a p4p analysis of their entire respective careers at all weights would reveal a close call.

 

I prefer Galindez.

The style of Qawi is just so tough to be long lasting at being razor sharp. And once at the top he is fighting other top fighters. Just a tightrope act that just does not last. And a big difference between A game and B game.

Galindez was much different and I sure do like that longevity. And most were picking him to lose a lot of bouts and yet he'd be the guy with his hand raised at the end. Never easy, but he knew how to win bouts.

 

Galindez is genuinely one of the most underrated fighters on this board. Especially given his size imo. Is he better than Qawi? Probably not, but he was absolutely awesome and we should talk about him more.

 

Yeah,I always liked his infighting and "Argentinian roll" defense,so versatile as a fighter.

 

Yeah, everyone likes to talk about mexican style, but the Argentinian style is awesome. He's like a big Laciar or Perez imo.

 

Argentinian style,for me it's like Mexican and Panamanian mixed,and for some reason I saw those cross guard rolling technique in a lot of Argentinian boxers,to name a few:

Santos Laciar
Eduardo Lausse
Luis Lazarte
Sergio Victor Palma

All those literally had similar styles, although Lazarte is more like a mini Hopkins,fight and win as cheap as possible...

 

Galindez has an argument for being greater.

I'd say Qawi was better.

 

I concur on both counts. Qawi just that bit better.

Gustavo Ballas as well. He’s like Nicolino Locche but throws more punches. Most of these Argentinian fighters that you mentioned really do use similar defensive technique.
