I agree on that last sentence. Style matters and Floyd is the best at adjusting to all styles. Moving back is the best defense in boxing, but it also limits the offense. In the end right, it all comes down to instincts. Floyd knows when to move back, when not to move back, so as to balance the dynamic between offense and defense. His philly shell is also very flawless and Floyd has definitely been "fainted" before and is overreactive. I remember in slow motion Canelo feinted him a lot because of his Mexican style and Floyd bend down a lot if he didn't move backwards. Floyd still beat Canelo soundly

 

Either way though,we'll never know as Duran was ranked higher than Canelo p4p,and trying to emulate Floyd with Leonard/Viruet wasn't that fair either.

 

And either way though, Duran still had a failsafe if his shots didn't land,at last he could turn it into an ugly clinch fight and slow down the pace, something you'd say is his blueprint to get s chance vs Floyd.

SMH, you don't put the words stoppage and Floyd together unless it's Mayweather winning SMH. Floyd wins on points and frustrates Duran, making him quite in 9 rounds, and 9 rounds is very, very generous. I got Duran quitting realistically at beginning of round 8

 

I didn't say there is any blue print to Floyd's style. What I said to increase your chances of maximizing a win against Floyd is to make it a boring high level chess fight where you are forced to go slow and you are forced to slow down your work rate. Any other styles as we've seen in Mayweather's career will easily get nullified. In order to beat the best, you have to try something new and disrupt someone's rhythm and reach a level of boxing your opponent has never seen before. Duran would also have to consistently train, watch film studies, and not slack off for a single day. To beat your opponent, you must outwork them and outsmart them, something which is extremely difficult to do if your opponent is Floyd Mayweather but it can be done, and Duran is going to have to move out of his comfort zone highly to even get a chance at beating Floyd.

 

That's exactly what I am suggesting for Duran to do,a clinch fest.

With that he could somehow lower Floyd's workrate tbh,and Duran lowering his pace might be a bit possible too,we saw him do it for the Thompson and De Jesus III where he fought with more cool in him.

Nah Augustus doesn't have better defense than Duran however we shouldn't use that Augustus fight as a blue print, neither should we use any fights since he won all of them. Pacquiao is the closest to Duran that Floyd faced and SRL is the closest to Floyd that Duran faced, and we knew how these matchups went.

 

So a draw then.

However Augustus is a tough figher like Duran which can pose problems. We've seen Floyd deal with skilled pressure such as Augustus and nullifying and beating such skilled pressure. Like I said, a draw is most definitely possible, I would even go as far as to say a draw is the most likely outcome out of the 3 options, but I can't see a loss, well, I can, but me seeing a loss is just that slim .001 possibility Duran lands a lucky shot and Floyd that day was unprepared. .001 is too low, maybe like .8, maybe 1% if we're being generous.

 

Slowing down the pace is playing into Mayweather's hands.He WANTS a slow paced chess match type fight. When has he ever tried to up the pace at 147-154?
