Many talented Central Asian and East European boxers are ruined by poor promotion and are avoided. Good example Filip Hrgovic: they went through all the IBF ranked contenders and none wanted to face him in a final eliminator - later, they did it again and Zhang agreed. Dychko, Hrgovic and others had excellent potential at one time, but have declined as the result of inactivity and meaningless opposition. The same is happening now to Jalolov. To receive proper promotion, a boxer needs to be born in the UK or the USA. If not, a single loss might mean they are written off. Dubois lost by KO to Joyce and Usyk and was knocked down three times against light-punching Lerena, but because he's British, he kept being given opportunities that someone like Dychko could never dream of.
the local fight industry goes a long way. british boxing for all it's faults has an extraordinary competent board, a domestic small hall fight scene irrelevent to big names on the cards and a belt that has history. france has/had an industry but it just doesnt have the inferstructure to generate interest. tony yoka. gold medalist. fighting in a swindon bingo hall. then again. american fighters are also stuck with the same problem. you can an olympian with a 150-5 am record but if you are born and train in Fort Acdingtondislo, Idaho...you neeeed to move out the sticks and find a coast. Hrgovic is from zagreb...this isnt the far depths of the frozen steppes...garibaldi almost claimed it for italy. he has loads of channels. mild resettling in italy or germany woul have been great. or do what pulev did, create your own promo country then globe trot for bigger cards. honestly. might gamble in the building records/ pulling string for rankings phase. best to just find a scene to fight from. chauncy welliver in new zealand or peter okello in japan. maybe big dych does a year in japan against some aussies. big crowds, easy ranking and gives you options.
Hrgovic, in fairness, is fighting in the public eye and fighting at a level Dychko could only dream of (and is only 32). Yes, he's wasted some time but he's fought on the big stage in Riyadh and has wins over Joyce and Zhang. It took a while, Hrgovic's management at this point is doing fine. It's really on him at this point whether he realises his potential.
Anyone know anything about Dychko? The guy should be right in there contending for those belts. Cant understand why he is so inactive, even fighting journeymen he would be top 5 ranked in a couple of orgs by now.
I think he hangs out in Pennsylvania or somewhere like that and works with Yankello. He was ranked by the WBA (I think) in 2024 but managed to only have pulled out of a nothing fight since then. I’ve pretty much given up on him, but I want to know the “why” part for his career path. Then again, he trains in the U.S. so you figure he’ll get a fight sometime.
Someone mentioned (probably here I think) that he was content with the pay-checks he's been collecting as a sparring partner, which makes sense. It was very exciting that all 4 of the medalists from Rio olympics turned pro, but they've been a bitter disappointment.

Shakhobidin Zoirov (UZB) - now 5-0 in the pros; waited three years to debut, fought thrice in 2019 and zero times in 2020 or 2021, twice in 2022 and zero times since. Robeisy Ramírez (CUB) - now 14-3-1 in the pros. Robson Conceição (BRA) - now 19-3-1 in the pros. Fazliddin Gaibnazarov (UZB) - now 11-2 in the pros. Arlen López (CUB) - now 3-0 in the pros; waited six years to debut in 2022; didn't fight in 2023, once in 2024. Julio César La Cruz (CUB)- now 3-0 in the pros; waited six years to debut in 2022; didn't fight in 2023, once in 2024. Evgeny Tishchenko (RUS) - now 12-1-0-1 in the pros. Tony Yoka (FRA) - now 13-3 in the pros. Maybe the biggest dud class ever.
I don't understand the point of a professional boxer pursuing a career in boxing if he doesn't fight. Kazakhstan's 2016 Olympic gold medalist Daniyar lost several years of prime time due to promoter issues. He was wrongly informed by his agent not to renew his contract with Eddie Hearn, but the fact is that Matchroom offered him a very good contract. Without knowing the truth, he mocked Eddie. Later, after knowing the truth, he wasted time dealing with the problem with his agent and now signed with TKO. He was frustrated when dealing with the agent issue before. Boxers from the former Soviet Union and Central Asian countries should understand the dilemma of their predecessors before starting a professional boxing career but still make mistakes. At least learn English. Dychko's career can be said to have made no progress. As for Hasanboy, he is currently the captain of the Uzbek national boxing team. He will continue to stay in amateur boxing. I guess he will strive for a third Olympic gold medal.
