Ottke's pro career was a weird one. He was in his 30's and had already had well over 300 amateur fights when he went pro and was already on the slide. At the end of the day, I would favor Kessler but I remember a time when Ottke was in his 20's and beating Tarver, Byrd and Moorer. The guy absolutely could fight and had the style to cause anyone fits. With that said, he definitely got a lot of help at the end of his career and is out of the hall of fame because of it. On another note, if anyone ever wants to see a fighter that was a master in space, watch Ottke as an amateur. The guy had tremendous footwork and was the king of dictating range. I will acknowledge that he is a required taste as a fighter and could be downright boring in the pro game.
I couldn't stand Ottke. One of the most boring champions in boxing history. But, Ottke had a very high ring IQ and great footwork. He just might be able to outsmart Kessler and win a decision. Kessler never showed much of a plan B if things weren't going his way.
Kessler would beat the Hell outta Ottke. Does he get the decision? Thats another story. He wins wide though.
