To those wondering how The White Wolf is doing these days and what he’s up to, I found this fairly recent interview with him that was pretty interesting. He seems healthy and happy, which is awesome to hear.

There's no way he would beat Joshua. Joshua is a guy who put in a serious title reign. Joshua is just worse than Fury and the K bros, which is forgivable.

Liakovich made noise by beating Friday and followed it up by getting knocked out by Maurice Harris. He then came back by decisioning Guinn and Brewster, two fighters were badly lacking in their ability to bank rounds, and followed it up by getting knocked out by Briggs and effectively finished by Valuev.

The only guys in the top ten who he'd have a chance against would be Ruiz, who doesn't fight enough and can be a lethargic blob on any given night, Ortiz, who was a far superior boxer to Liakovich but is now ancient and hits the deck too easily, and Whyte (if he counts), who is past prime and sucks. I wouldn't back him to win 2/3 or better against those guys.

He was around prime Michael Hunter's level at his peak.

Forgot about his war w Brewster will save it and hope he's doing well today. Too many of boxers we grew up with and/or witness since they were green fall victim to bad health. I get its likely but still aint easy to see guys ya like be in such critical condition.

I think he was a level above Hunter personally. I remember a shot Liakhovich giving Ruiz Jr and Helenius quite a bit of trouble before being stopped. If he were in his prime, I suspect he would have those two names in his win column.

I see him outboxing Whyte and quite a few others floating around in the top 10-15 today. Usyk and Fury would be too much for him however.

I wish he was coming along in his prime now, I think a lot of fun fights could be made with The White Wolf.

Too chinny, not physical enough, sometimes out of shape.

Andy probably didn’t take him seriously and Helenius had his limits.

None of that means he couldn’t have good fights and wouldn’t beat some fringe guys.

Liakovich against Rivas and Gassiev would potentially be classics.

The Brewster fight took a lot out of Liakhovich physically, and the subsequent knockout loss to Briggs I think had a great mental toll on him. Both of these fights instigated a huge decline in Sergei unfortunately.

But at his absolute best, when focused and in shape, I think he was a lot better than most give him credit for. His prime was brief, but he showed sound boxing skills, including great footwork and a quality body attack, tremendous heart, and proved that on his night he could be a pretty smooth operator.

Fights against Rivas and Gassiev would be fun as heck, I agree. Would have also loved to have seen the Ruiz Jr. and Helenius fights rolled back with a prime White Wolf. Those two fights were very entertaining from what I recall.

The best HW fight of the 21st century IMO. There were others that were bigger events, but Liakhovich-Brewster had so much sustained action, and it wasn’t really sloppy either.

Liakovich had a field day with the right hand to the body. Brewster suffered a detached retina in that fight and his left side of the body must have been so battered.

Did Glazkov drop off the face of the earth after that fight?

I know he blew out his knee, but athletes come back from knee surgery all the time. What happened?
