He's not quick or awkward enough to catch with a shot you didn't see coming..

And yeah, turns out his power is likely only about a 7 for the HW division.

    It's a tricky one...

Miller in some ways mirrors Hrgovic - good chin but he's not quite heavy handed enough to be scary at the top end of the division and his stamina is too poor to win decisions against most good fighters.

It's a good step up for Wardley, but I suspect it's probably well calculated... But if it's not, well, that's the whole point of gatekeepers - they're a barrier to entry at the top table.

He looked real good early on stopping guys like Mansour and Molina early. But it's clear since he's stepped up in class, his power isn't what it was made out to be. He was landing flush on Joyce and Dubois and couldn't make a dent in either of them. McKean and Zhang also took him the distance and we've seen Zhang dropped and stopped and McKean was just stopped in 1 rd in the very next fight after Hrgovic against Itauma.

He’s the same as Wilder in the sense that no trainer has managed to get him working behind a piston like jab… it’s seems too obvious. Power wise, I’d put him alongside Parker.

I didn't see any comparions to Wlad, Hrgović is more Vitali like. Average power, but great chin and workrate. Shyte stamina tho.

I think his power is decent but nothing special. He is accurate, but doesn't set up his shots well enough for his power to come through.

Plus he is pretty basic with his attack and his opponents see them coming giving them time to prepare.

If he got a bit more creative with his attack to keep his opponents guessing and took the effort to set up his right hand better for the power to follow through it would show a lot more.

He actually reminds me a bit of a teenage boy who plays sport but doesn't want to look like they put in effort into the sport and just focuses on getting points/landing the right hand.

Parker's never particularly been known for power - he's not completely feather fisted, but he's not going into fights with that big of a punchers chance either....

Whyte's left hook was much nastier than anything Parker or Hrgovic have ever thrown.

I wouldn't say he's a one punch KO sort of guy but, as shown in the Joyce fight, his punches carry power, are timed well and are heavy. He's got a good output aswell and is good technically. He's got enough power to wear someone down and get a KO through sheer amount of punches, I'd say.

His straight right is quite powerful but yeah his jab and left hook are pretty weak. I think another thing that hurts his ability to put opponents over is the lack of punch variety. If they can see the straight right coming they’ll brace for impact. But if you’re landing a crisp hook or an uppercut they don’t expect it would do more damage.

I’ve been saying for a while now that Filip has very respectable power. GOOD power. But definitely not a power puncher like Zhang or even Gassiev to be honest. But he’s sure as **** isn’t “feather fisted” either :D

As far as the Wladimir comparisons, nah that’s crazy. Filip’s power actually reminds me of later career Vitali. Heavy handed and strong but not explosive. But Vitali was definitely more accurate with his shots. Which played a huge factor in his KO’s.

Hurgovic doesn't telegraph his right hand at all but its really obvious he is going to throw it. You basically know its coming. What he needs is a better jab.

He's obviously a puncher he's just not a massive one. Remember when they tried to lock Serge up in an insane asylum when he, and even before, turned pro for telling you all that he had an iron chin?

But once again Serge was proven right

Remember Serge has also been telling you all for a long time that, whilst a hard puncher, he could and should be hitting harder if he was on the right S&C programme with the right trainer and that if he had a work ethic of like say a Wlad for example + that S&C programme and added muscle he could improve that power to become a more devastating puncher

Serge has also has been saying for a long time that Hrgovic throws a lot of arm punches and slaps with the left hook

Johann Duhaupas agreed with me regarding that

“Deontay is a killer, but Filip already has a good right hand and maybe in one year with more muscle and power he could punch as hard as Wilder,” says Duhaupas. “With good mental and physical preparation, I believe Filip could win by KO against Miller or Povetkin''

Fabio Wardley sparred Hrgovic and said he knows how hard he hits, as in he hits hard

Tom Little said Hrgovic was the hardest puncher he'd fought

Johhny Fisher said Hrgovic is the best guy he's ever shared a ring with

Not being able to get the much heavier teak tough Big Joe Joyce out of there after stepping in at late notice when clearly not being close to top shape is hardly the best argument for Hrgovic lacking power. Only walking man mountain and savage puncher Big Bang has got Big Joe out of there and he's arguably the hardest puncher in the division. Hrgovic can crack but he's not one of the top 10 hardest punchers in the division but I think he could be with the right S&C programme

He's a great rabbit puncher. Elite, up there with the likes of Beterbiev and Boots Ennis.
