Yep, you are a loser. I would love to break your teeth. Too bad we've evolved or you wouldn't last too long in the real world with your safe space.
You have serious issues. It's your safe space, too - remember?? Best if we just ignore each other, from hereon in. You are just too far gone to be reasoned with and this ain't ever going anywhere good. Have a nice life.
Are you talking to me or typing out a reply for everyone to see? Why don't you just pm me? Fukkin loser.
Obviously Bowe ducked him, but there's only ever half-arsed debates about it which get soiled by clueless morons. Someone should just research & spell out the whole story and put it to bed.
There actually has been some evidence posted in regard to Bowe's mismanagement by Newman and his own, blind following of pretty much whatever he said. It's my impression that at least half the folks here saw Bowe beating the pre-Steward Lewis, Lennox was simply not at Bowe's overall level of skill at the time of the belt-trashing. However, the Steward-led Lewis was an entirely different story and would have provided a fantastic fight and probably victory on his part imo. Being that Bowe's skill level was so high at the time of the trashing, it's one of boxing's greatest shames the fight never took place. It certainly set back both fighters tons of money.
Great post and your arguments are sound. But I'm wondering if you think that Olympics "stoppage" was anything beyond early and unwarranted? Bowe is literally raising his hands and jogging in place...that fight wasn't over.
I just took a look at it again. Bowe took a standing 8 count early in rd 2. He never fully recovered from that. Lewis blasts him with a nasty right hand is rendered helpless but still on his feet. I can understand why the referee stopped it. Bowe appeared to be out on his feet but then when the referee grabs him he raises his arms. He may have let the bout continue if Bowe had turned his back and walked away from the referee. Bowe seemed to be disoriented enough to lead the referee to error on the side of caution.
I honestly didn't see helplessness there, I saw a young man who was ready to get back to fighting. But I might have it wrong, all respect.
I still think Bowe should have made that fight happen, but in fairness, I don't think it was entirely his fault either.. There were different circumstances happening at that time. Holyfield was obviously the huge money maker for him, so that was top priority. Bowe's manager wanted to milk everything he could get out of his meal ticket and didn't want to risk that. Although I do think that Bowe had it all over Lewis skill-wise and should have taken him apart, (what McCall did is exactly what Bowe should have done to him IMO), I do think mentally, Lewis made Bowe uncomfortable, (maybe?). I don't know this for sure. In 1992 or '93, I go with Bowe to beat Lewis as I don't think Lewis was ready. If it's 1996, then I think Lewis may have had a chance to win because at that point Bowe was on the slide.
While its likely that mid to late 90s Lewis outboxes Bowe, in reality early 90s Lewis was green and as evidenced by his loss to Oliver McCall in fight 1, Bowe had the power to pull it at the point where he threw the WBC belt on the bin, even if Lewis had won their gold medal fight (had I been there, Id picked it and gotten it signed! I always enjoyed autographs and love those WBC belts!!!) I think at that moment, their managers just wanted to "grow interest" in the fight and thought that if one of them lost , (in an early 90s Lewis-Bowe) their cash cow was gone. Look at Ttto and Oscar, they grew that fight from 1997 until by September of 1999, interest for it had reached fervent levels around the world. Of course, as we NOW know, Bowe's wheels came off a bit even if he only lost once, and Lewis was the face of 1990s heavyweights...
